SUMMERSIDE, P.E.I. — Summerside's Eptek Art and Culture Centre has a series of planned art exhibitions, film screenings and gallery games for March and April.

• Exhibitions

Eddy Schwartz, a local artist, is showcasing his new solo exhibition entitled Yesterday, Today II - A Portrait of Summerside at the Eptek Art and Culture Centre. The exhibit features 36 paintings of various homes, buildings and churches in the city, highlighting its architectural significance. The exhibit is a follow-up to Schwartz's 2018 showcase, Yesterday, Today and will be open for viewing from March 31 to May 12. Schwartz will be present on April 2 from 1-3 p.m. to discuss

his work. Admission to the exhibition is by donation, with a suggested donation of $5.

• Gallery Games

Families looking for fun and educational activities for children can participate in the centre's gallery scavenger hunts related to the exhibits.

Those interested can drop in at the centre at 130 Heather Moyse Dr. or call 902-8888373. Families are encouraged to keep an eye out on Eptek Centre's Facebook page at www.facebook.com/EptekCentre/ for more upcoming activities.

• Films

The Friends of Eptek Centre's Lunchtime Film series is running until the end of April. Upcoming films include Touring Scotland on April 6, A Tour of the Vatican Museums on April 13, Secrets of the U.S. Mint - Transforming Metals to Money on April 20 and Being Black in Halifax 2022 on April 27. There is no charge for the film presentations, and the series will feature new films and some classics from

the late Friend, Blanche Hogg. • Books

Members of the Eptek Centre Book Club will hold a meeting on April 7 at 7 p.m., where they will discuss the book The Boat People by Sharon Bala. The novel is inspired by real events and offers a deeply compassionate lens through which to view the current refugee crisis.

The story is told through the alternating perspectives of three main characters, with vivid scenes that move between the eerie beauty of northern Sri Lanka and combative refugee hearings in Vancouver.

More information about all events is availble by calling 902-888-8373 or online at www.peimuseum.com or www.facebook.com/EptekCentre.
