East Coast Music Association names 2024 honourary award winners
Ten recipients will be awarded on night 2 of the ECMAs in Charlottetown
P.E.I.'s own Deryl Gallant and Scott Parsons will receive honourary awards at the 2024 East Coast Music Awards in Charlottetown this May.
Gallant, a well-known bassist with more than 30 years in the province's music industry, will receive the Musicians's Achievement Award.
The versatile and multidimensional Parsons, meanwhile, will be recognized with the Bucky Adams Memorial Award for members of the African Canadian community.
Late Cape Breton minstrel Bruce Gurthro will be honoured with the Director's Special Achievement Award; Nova Scotia music producer John Poirier will accept the Industry Builder Award; and late British-born prominent Newfoundland and Labadror blues man Denis Parker is getting the Dr. Helen Creighton Lifetime Achievement Award posthumously.
Recipients of the new Stompin' Tom Awards have also been announced, recognizing one individual from each part of Atlantic Canada who has had a lasting impact on the music industry.
Winners per region include Newfoundlander Pamela Morgan, Nova Scotian Ian Alister Gosbee, Stephan Muise of Cape Breton, Zachary Atkinson of New Brunswick and P.E.I.'s Kerri Wayne Macleod.
All awards will be presented during night two of the ECMA awards on Sunday, May 5.
