The true story of a fa­mily’s jour­ney of rai­sing their son Wal­ker, se­ve­rely di­sa­bled due to a ra­re ge­ne­tic di­sor­der. This award-win­ning me­moir by CBC Ra­dio and Glo­be and Mail jour­na­list Ian Brown, po­wer­ful and mo­ving in print, is even mo­re ex­tra­or­di­nary on sta­ge. Di­rec­tor Ch­ris Abraham re­flects upon the im­pact of the play in that “it cha­llen­ges us to think about the fun­da­men­tally fra­gi­le and un­cer­tain nature of pa­ren­ting and of li­fe.”

The sixth an­nual Jour­neys of Mi­gra­tion will ta­ke place on Thurs­day No­vem­ber 15 from 4:00-5:30 PM at Uni­ver­sity of Wes­tern On­ta­rio - McKe­llar Room ( Thea­tre), UCC Room 290. The event will in­clu­de:

· An in­for­ma­ti­ve pre­sen­ta­tion on what in­te­gra­tion is and how it is achie­ved

· A short vi­deo high­ligh­ting the story of Gas­ton Ma­ba­ya and his fa­mily who arri­ved in Ca­na­da from the De­mo­cra­tic Re­pu­blic of the Con­go 20 years ago

· Pa­nel pre­sen­ta­tions on the ex­pe­rien­ce of in­te­gra­tion in Lon­don and Ca­na­da by:

- Va­si­le Ca­niu­ca,

Mills­to­ne Ho­mes

- Adriana Diaz, Pro­gram Ma­na­ger, Lon­don In­te­rCom­mu­nity Health Cen­tre Pre­si­dent,

Co­me hear the per­so­nal sto­ries of how es­ta­blis­hed im­mi­grants have made Lon­don their ho­me, the cha­llen­ges they fa­ced along the way, and how they suc­cess­fully over­ca­me the­se cha­llen­ges.
