Jocelyne Laxson
Employée de Parenty Reitmeier depuis 1996, Jocelyne Laxson avait déjà commencé à collaborer avec l’entreprise avant même sa véritable création, alors que Jean-pierre Parenty travaillait seul sur des travaux de traduction en 1992.
« Quand je suis devenue employée à temps plein, Diane m’a tout de suite dit que je n’allais pas m’ennuyer et que j’aurais l’opportunité de faire plein de choses différentes. J’ai travaillé en tant que coordonnatrice de projets et aujourd’hui, je suis responsable de l’assurance de la qualité. Nos projets sont différents et mon rôle est souvent de trouver des solutions aux défis que notre équipe rencontre, comme la mise en page des langues traduites. »
Parmi les choses que Jocelyne Laxson préfère dans son travail, c’est assurément l’équipe et l’ambiance de travail : « Il y a énormément de choses qui me plaisent dans l’entreprise, mais c’est vraiment le fun d’entendre toutes ces langues autour de nous. Parfois, il m’arrive d’écouter des langues que je n’ai jamais entendues de ma vie.
« Notre équipe vient de différents pays dans le monde, et c’est tellement enrichissant d’apprendre leur histoire et leur culture! On découvre des mots et des coutumes qui n’existent pas en anglais ni en français. Parenty Reitmeier est vraiment une entreprise où on peut grandir et améliorer nos connaissances. »
Présente dans l’entreprise depuis sa création, Jocelyne Laxson souligne comment Parenty Reitmeier a évolué avec le temps : « En 30 ans, l’entreprise est passée par tellement d’évolutions technologiques! Des processus ont été mis en place et nous avons adopté des outils qui ont changé notre manière de travailler. Je me souviens du temps où nous utilisions des modems pour envoyer une traduction, sans pouvoir téléphoner en même temps, car la connexion était limitée. Quand on y repense maintenant, on se dit : Mais comment avons-nous pu survivre à ça? (rires) Aujourd’hui, dès qu’internet est un peu lent, on se met à râler et à pleurer dans la seconde! »
Although she’s been with Parenty Reitmeier since 1996, Jocelyne Laxson had started working for the company before its actual beginnings, when Jean-pierre Parenty was doing translation work on a freelance basis in 1992.
“When I became a full-time employee, Diane wasted no time in telling me that I’d never be bored and that I would have the opportunity to do a lot of different things. I worked as a Project Coordinator and, today, I am in charge of Quality Assurance. Our projects are all very different and my role often consists of finding solutions to the challenges facing our team, e.g., determining the best layout for various translated languages.”
What Jocelyne likes best about her job is definitely the team and the work atmosphere: “I like a lot of things about the company, but it’s really fun to hear all the languages being spoken around us. I sometimes listen to people speaking languages that I’ve never heard before.”
“Our team members come from all over the world, and learning about their countries, their history and their culture is very rewarding! We discover words and customs that have no equivalent in either English or French. Parenty Reitmeier is truly a company where we can grow and improve our knowledge.”
Having been with the company from the outset, Jocelyne Laxson can appreciate how much Parenty Reitmeier has changed over the years: “There’s no doubt that over 30 years, the company has gone through many technological changes! Processes have been implemented and we have added tools that have changed the way we work. I remember when we used modems to send translations; we couldn’t make a phone call at the same time because the connection was limited. When you think about that now, you wonder: How on earth did we ever work like that? (laughter). These days, whenever the Internet is a little slow, we immediately start complaining about it!”
