Embrun Panthers struggle but end the weekend with a win

The Embrun Panthers lost two of their three last games over the weekend.

The Panthers played the Whitewater Kings on Thursday, January 25, at the Cobden Arena, in what was a close game. The Kings opened the scoring 24 seconds into the game with a goal by Dylan Kuehl. The Panthers took the lead 2-1 by the end of the first period with goals from Justin Gagnon and Joey Larcher.

The Kings opened the second period with a shorthande­d goal to tie the game. The Panthers then took the lead 3-2 with a power play goal by Jeremy Barrie. The Kings dominated the third period, scoring two goals, to eventually take home the 4-3 win over the Panthers.

The Panthers suffered their second loss the next day, Friday, January 26, against the Winchester Hawks. The Hawks took the lead in the first period. Embrun then responded in the second period with a goal from Jeremy Barrie. The Hawks took the lead again with a goal of their own by Christophe Lemay.

The score was 2-1 for the Hawks going into the third period. Lemay scored again for Winchester within 17 seconds of the third period and the Panthers were unable to find the back of the net for the rest of the game, to tie or win it. The Hawks won 3-1.

The Panthers then redeemed themselves on Sunday, January 28, with a 3-1 victory over the Richmond Royals. The first period of the game was goalless, but the Panthers then scored two goals in the second period. Jeremy Barrie and Michael Armstrong gave the Panthers a 2-0 lead going into the third.

The Richmond Royals quickly responded in the final period with a goal by Brendan Wood. Joey Larcher then solidified the Panthers win with his unassisted goal at the end of the third period.

The Panthers will take on the Casselman Vikings next on Friday, February 2, and the Brockville Tikis on Wednesday, February 7.

Les Panthères d’Embrun ont perdu deux de leurs trois derniers matchs au cours du weekend. L’équipe a perdu 4-3 contre les Kings de Whitewater, le 25 janvier, et 3-1 contre les Hawks de Winchester, le 26 janvier. Cependant, les Panthères ont gagné 3-1 contre les Royals de Richmond, le 28 janvier.
