Ma­cken­zie Lau­ren-Sweet of Stitts­ville re­cei­ved a sus­pen­ded sen­tence with a 12-month pro­ba­tion af­ter he pled guil­ty to as­sault with a wea­pon du­ring the Fe­brua­ry 7 pro­vin­cial court ses­sion in L’Ori­gnal. The charge re­sul­ted from a po­lice in­ves­ti­ga­tion of an in­ci­dent De­cem­ber 9, 2017 in Rus­sell Town­ship du­ring which Lau­ren-Sweet struck a per­son on the back with a snow sho­vel. Condi­tions of his pro­ba­tion in­clude ta­king coun­sel­ling on do­mes­tic vio­lence and sub­stance/ al­co­hol abuse. He is ban­ned from pos­ses­sing any wea­pons for two years and must pro­vide po­lice with a blood sample for DNA re­cords. He must pay a $100 victim’s sur­charge fine and is or­de­red to avoid contact with the com­plai­nant du­ring the term of his pro­ba­tion.
