Snow shovel assault
Mackenzie Lauren-Sweet of Stittsville received a suspended sentence with a 12-month probation after he pled guilty to assault with a weapon during the February 7 provincial court session in L’Orignal. The charge resulted from a police investigation of an incident December 9, 2017 in Russell Township during which Lauren-Sweet struck a person on the back with a snow shovel. Conditions of his probation include taking counselling on domestic violence and substance/ alcohol abuse. He is banned from possessing any weapons for two years and must provide police with a blood sample for DNA records. He must pay a $100 victim’s surcharge fine and is ordered to avoid contact with the complainant during the term of his probation.
