CINDY SAUCIER SEEKS SECOND TERM ON COUNCIL
Saucier has decided she wants another term on Russell Township council.
“I am running now,” Saucier said during a May 7 interview. “A lot of people were asking me and encouraging me to run again.”
During her original election campaign and her past term on council, Saucier has lobbied on environmental issues, and represented council on its environmental advisory committee. Local environmental conservation and protection is a top priority behind her decision to seek reelection.
“I still have concerns about the loss of tree cover for our township,” Saucier said. “I’d like to see developers do something more on this.”
Saucier noted that the township could address this through its site development approvals for new projects. At present, developers of large-scale residential, commercial or industrial developments are required to either dedicate a specific percentage of their project area for greenspace or provide the township with the cash equivalent for that greenspace.
Saucier suggested that developers could create “living fences” of greenspace as part of the plans for the boundaries of their projects. She noted this would help reduce the loss of tree cover in the township. It would also benefit area residents with a greener viewscape for the community. "We all know the health benefits of a community. that is green,” she said.
Saucier also listed support for local shopping as an issue she is “passionate about”. She would also like to see the development of a long-term seniors care residence in Russell Township, similar to the facility that the counties operates in Hawkesbury.
“So that our seniors can live out their days in their own community,” Saucier said.
Cindy Saucier sollicitera un nouveau mandat au conseil de la Municipalité de Russell.
