Historic Summit in Bagotville

Le Vortex de Bagotville - - NEWS -

In recent weeks, CFB Bagotville has written in its own history books. The G7 Summit held in Charlevoix certainly generated a lot of activity on the Military Base and its surroundings, at the beginning of June.

While the Canadian Armed Forces ( CAF) contribution was focused on security, a wide variety of military capabilities, including many from the Royal Canadian Air Force, were de- ployed before and during the Summit to ensure success of the entire event.

More than 2,000 military personnel have been directly involved in the organization. And it was the CAF aircraft that transported the dignitaries attending the Summit between Bagotville and La Malbaie. 2 Wing meanwhile deployed to St- Iréné airport before and during the Summit ( see other text on page 5). As usual, the CF- 18s have been on alert to ensure the sovereignty and security of the airspace.

The intensity of their presence has been enhanced for the duration of the Summit to ensure the highest security to the foreign dignitaries.

There have been significant efforts and everyone agrees that they have accomplished their mission with flying colors.
