More Services for Veterans et family’s
Since April 1, veterans of the Canadian Armed Forces have benefited from several new services and benefits. These new programs affect the areas of education and training, financial security and, ultimately, family services and their well- being.
In the area of education and training of career reorientation services that facilitates the recognition of prior learning and preparation for a new career. New education and training allowances of up to $ 80,000 are now available. Finally, rehabilitation and professional assistance services for survivors and spouses are available more quickly. With regard to financial security, Veterans Affairs Canada ( VAC) has set up an emergency fund for veterans. This service is intended to support veterans and their families when an unexpected situation arises that could jeopardize the family's financial situation. Finally, many changes have been made to VAC programs for families. Caregiver recognition allowances ($ 1,000 per month) will now be paid directly to the caregiver. Veterans released for medical reasons and their families now have access to all Military Family Resource Center ( MFRC) services across the country. A program specifically designed for the families of these veterans is also set up to guide those who need it to resources adapted to each situation. As well, a Center of Excellence on Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and Related Mental Health Conditions will conduct research and share knowledge to support Veterans and their families struggling with this problem. To complete this list of improvements to these programs, VAC has created a fund for the well- being of Veterans and their families. This fund will fund innovative ideas that could have a positive impact on the wellbeing of Veterans and their families. This fund receives grant funding of up to $ 250,000 per year in addition to up to $ 1 million in funding.
