Ve­te­ran Fa­mi­ly Pro­gram at MFRC

Since April 1, 2018, the Ba­got­ville MFRC has put at the dis­po­sal of Ca­na­dian Ar­med Forces mem­bers in the pro­cess of re­lease for me­di­cal rea­sons and me­di­cal­ly re­lea­sed ve­te­rans ( 3B re­lease) as well as their fa­mi­lies the Ve­te­ran Fa­mi­ly Pro­gram ( VFP).

The VFP in­cludes some tools, work­shops, pro­grams and com­mu­ni­ty in­te­gra­tion, re­fer­ral and in­ter­ven­tion ser­vices of va­rious na­tures to ease their tran­si­tion to­ward ci­vi­lian life. Af­ter the suc­cess achie­ved by the Ve­te­ran Fa­mi­ly Pro­gram pi­lot pro­ject es­ta­bli­shed in 2015 in se­ven Ca­na­dian Mi­li­ta­ry Fa­mi­ly Re­source Centres ( MFRCs), the Ho­nou­rable Sea­mus O’Re­gan, Mi­nis­ter of Ve­te­rans Af­fairs and As­so­ciate Mi­nis­ter of Na­tio­nal De­fence, an­noun­ced last March 15th the in­tro­duc­tion of this pro­gram wi­thin 32 Ca­na­dian MFRCs through fi­nan­cial sup­port va­lued at 147 mil­lion dol­lars spread out over six years. Con­si­de­ring the fact that MFRCs act as a fo­rum for mi­li­ta­ry com­mu­ni­ties, the in­clu­sion of both ve­te­rans and their fa­mi­lies in our pro­grams and ser­vices consti­tutes a na­tu­ral ex­ten­sion of the range of ser­vices of­fe­red dai­ly. As a whole, the ar­ran­ging and de­ve­lop­ment of the VFP lie wi­thin the spi­rit of re­cog­ni­tion of the role played by mi­li­ta­ry fa­mi­lies with their lo­ved ones who work or have wor­ked wi­thin the Ca­na­dian Ar­med Forces.
