Injury prevention at 439 Squadron

Le Vortex de Bagotville - - UN MOT DE L’ADJUDANT- CHEF -

Over the last few months, the 439 Squadron Command Team and Bagotville’s PSP Mobile Unit have developed an injury prevention program tailored to the specific needs of the unit.

The flight crews aboard the CH146 Griffon are doing exciting and important work, but the movements to their neck and backs often has adverse effects in the long run. For example, 439 Squadron approached the PSP at the Bagotville Base to help members to learn exercises that will strengthen and stretch the back and neck muscles. The mobile PSP unit is there to meet operational demand and to offer injury prevention and training sessions. It also offers theoretical and technical education to members. The program developed with the 439 Squadron team is a good example of the usefulness of the mobile PSP unit service. Units wishing to inquire about the service or who would like to develop a program for their members should contact Claudie Descoteaux at extension 7544.
