Le Vortex de Bagotville

The electronic version of Le Vortex is really popular

-

The COVID-19 pandemic has of course brought its share of constraints, but it has also forced innovation and has often accelerated technological transformations. The Bagotville base newspaper Le Vortex did not escape this movement either.

Produced in print and electronically for several years, the onset of the pandemic forced the print out of print and dramatically changed the ways previously used to promote newspaper content.

These decisions had the effect of exploding the number of visitors to the site www.vortexbagotville.com, the number of visitors of which rose from an average of 13,500 (5,300 unique visitors) per year to more than 31,000 (15,500 unique visitors). The number of clicks increased from 93,000 to over 200,000 per year.

Some months were particularly popular. This is particularly the case with the first digital-only edition produced in April 2020 which brought more than 2,560 visitors to the site.

The creation of the Facebook PSP and Information Bagotville pages also played a large role in promoting the newspaper and its content.

Some stories taken from the newspaper and re-published on the web have reached nearly 700 views. The two most popular topics of 2020 were the article on Captain Findlater piloting with 439 Squadron in November and the topic NORAD and Santa Claus last December.

According to the editor of the Vortex, Eric Gagnon, it is therefore subjects of human or family interest that are popular. "We notice that when it comes to a specific person or a topic that may be of interest to children, the number of visits skyrockets. The topics on the pandemic and health rules were also very visited, but less than the more personal or human interest topics, ”explains Mr. Gagnon.
