Edition 2021 of Bagotville Airshow was a success
The 2021 edition of the Bagotville International Air Show (SAIB) was far different from what was predicted two years ago when the 2019 edition of the event ended with a record turnout.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it was obviously impossible to bring together 100,000 people in Bagotville for a traditional air show. It was therefore necessary to show imagination.
SAIB21 therefore became Operation “Bon voisinage” with its flypast over several regions of the province, inthis cluding Quebec City and almost all the municipalities of Saguenay – Lac-SaintJean.
About 20 Royal Canadian Air Force planes and helicopters marched for several hours on June 26.
“I am very proud of what we have achieved and I want to thank everyone who imagined this day and believed in it. Our goal was to thank the population for their support and also to highlight the work and dedication of all those who continue to fight against the COVID-19 pandemic and difficult year that we have gone through”, launched the commander of the BFC Bagotville and president of SAIB21, Colonel Normand Gagné, at the end of the day.
Over 43,000 people watched the event's webcast and thousands more on the radio. It should be noted that nearly 200 people took part in the organization and production of this special edition of the SAIB. After a few well-deserved weeks of vacation, the team will get back to work organizing the 2023 air show that promises to be awe-inspiring.
