New shelters mark the and of an era
Last spring, around 30 soldiers from Bagotville took part in training to familiarize them with the use of the brand new Headquarters Shelter System (HQSS) acquired by the Canadian Armed Forces.
The HQSS is a modular shelter system that can be used in offices, dormitories or field hospitals. It is primarily intended for use in overseas deployments, but can also be useful and quickly deployed anywhere in the country.
The multidisciplinary team of around thirty soldiers who followed this training at the Bagotville base from May 3 to 6 was made up mainly of members of logistics units (construction engineering, transport, electrical and mechanical engineering, supply). These soldiers will in turn be able to train other members during deployments.
Needless to say that the reception of the HQSS has been more than favorable since the system is easy to erect, easy to maintain and to repair and that it can be deployed in any climatic condition ranging from -51 ° C to 49 ° C.
Another advantage is its configuration because it is limited only to the imagination of the user and the available terrain.
Indeed, with its multiple doors, the HQSS can be assembled in all four directions. The Velcro system used will make repairs much easier, as all you have to do is detach the missing piece of equipment, such as a door, replace it with a new one and send the problematic part to the repair shop.
Semi-rigid floors are more durable and eliminate the need to constantly fabricate "Floorboard" planks
