Le Vortex de Bagotville

It’s time to say goodbye!

- « Défendez le Saguenay »!

Dearmembers of 3 Wing and CFB Bagotville, it is time for me to say goodbye to you. My three-year term at the head of the beautiful and large Bagotville family is coming to an end soon and I would like to thank you for supporting me so well.

These three years have gone by at high speed, and have been filled with surprises and challenges. In particular, the pandemic that has infiltrated our lives for more than two years has been a major one. Members of 3 Wing and CFB Bagotville met this extraordinary challenge with brio and resilience, adapting to the many changes without ever stopping essential operations. All staff and command teams did an exceptional job under the circumstances. You made me very proud to be your commander!

The possibilities of traveling outside being limited, this particular period allowed me to better know the beautiful region of Saguenay. My family and I were then able to discover and enjoy the richness and beauty of the regional nature, but what marked us the most was the warm welcome that we were shown upon our arrival. We have always felt the support of the people of the Base and the region during our stay and are very grateful.

Now is the time to pass the torch to Col Colin Marks, your new commander. Some of you may recognize him, Col Marks being on his second visit to Bagotville, having already been assigned to 425 ETAC from 2005 to 2009. I sincerely hope that you will give him the same support as you gave me during my command.

There will be several changes in the Canadian Armed Forces, changes that will strengthen our team. In order to undertake this improvement of culture, I remind you that it will be necessary to start with respect and dignity for each and everyone. You will also go through a transformation with new buildings, equipment and concept of operations developments at 3 Wing and CFB Bagotville; the future is exciting and promising!

I leave my post with the honor of having worked alongside you. Thanks to all of you and your families.
