As part of a consultation tour across the wings in Canada, members of CFB Bagotville were invited on May 4 to discover the prototypes of new underwear and flying suits currently in development for members of Canadian Armed Forces and the Royal Canadian Air Force.
The team of the Director – Soldier Systems Program Management (DSSPM) in collaboration with various civilian and military partners has been working for some time to develop new clothing that is better suited to different climatic conditions. There are two sets of garments that are currently unsion der consultation and research: the new operational flight clothing ensemble and the aircrew all-weather layered garment system.
“The objective is to develop the best clothing within NATO for our aircrew. We want members never to have to buy a piece of clothing to be more comfortable on a mission,” says Sergeant Justin Harris, Executive Assistant to the CFB Bagotville Chief Warrant Officer. About twenty people attended the demonstration and were able to see the prototypes of the new underwear that are the subject of the consultation. About fifteen members also took part in the discusworkshop that followed the presentation.
The following day, members of the Air Requirements Team also toured the facilities of three units on the Base, going to 3 EMA, 425 ETAC and 3 ESM to learn more about the work of the members of these units.
The DSSPM will continue its consultations over the next few months and then make the necessary improvements to the underwear and flight suits to arrive at a final version which will then be distributed to all aircrew and other members of the Armed Forces. Canadian.
