- LETHBRIDGE HERALD

The LCI boys Rams varsity and junior varsity boys volleyball teams each secured top spot in their Southern Alberta High School Volleyball League divisions Wednesday night.

The varsity Rams defeated the Magrath Zeniths 3-2 in Magrath.

The Rams dropped the first two sets 25-18 and 25-22, but won the next three sets (25-22, 25-20, 15-9) to earn the win that keeps the team undefeated at 7-0 and clinches top spot in the varsity division.

The junior varsity match went the full three sets before the Rams posted a 2-1 win (2927, 23-25, 15-10). The win puts the Rams at 5-0

The Catholic Central Cougars are second in the junior varsity division at 4-1, but in the event of a tie in the last week, the Rams would win on a tiebreaker.

Earlier this week, the Coaldale Kate Andrews Pride junior varsity girls captured their division crown by improving to 8-0 on the season.

The varsity girls regular season crown will be determined next Tuesday when the Chinook Coyotes (80) take on the Catholic Central Cougars (8-1) at the Catholic Central east campus after the junior varsity game at 6 p.m.

The junior varsity playoffs are Nov. 4-5 with Taber W.R. Myers hosting the girls playoffs and Catholic Central west hosting the boys Nov. 4.

The girls varsity playoffs will be hosted by Chinook, with the boys taking place Nov. 1112.

The SAHSVL awards night is Nov. 15 in the Catholic Central East Cafeteria at 7:30 p.m.
