Photography club members celebrate Canada
Local photographers explore Canadian identity with a new exhibit on the second floor of The Gallery at Casa.
“Celebrating Canada” includes images in response to a request for the photographers to interpret the theme in a unique and personal way, and to create a photograph in their minds that celebrates Canada.
Darcy Logan, The Gallery at Casa curator, said the exhibit coincides with Canada’s 150th birthday and features 12 members of the Lethbridge Photography Club.
“It is one of our longest, and most august arts groups in the city,” Logan said.
Logan said there are three strong facets of Canadian identity present in the exhibit. Those include the people who make Canada unique, the culture that makes Canada unique, and the landscape that makes Canada unique.
“You’ll see photographs of people from different cultures, and you’ll see our wonderful landscape here in Canada,” he said.
“We have photographs of everything from Yoho National Park to the coast of Newfoundland. Our own little community has managed to capture a larger vision of what Canada means to them.”
Logan said the exhibit is an opportunity to celebrate the artistic voice of Lethbridge.
“Celebrating Canada” opened Saturday and runs until April 15.
