STARS hoping to sell out lottery

- LETHBRIDGE HERALD

STARS Lottery is once again sending out a plea for help after ticket sales in their annual lottery fundraiser have fallen below expectations.

Last year’s lottery faced a similar situation, with the prospect of not selling out as they always have over the past two decades of holding the lottery. Albertans responded and the organization is hoping they will again this year.

STARS operates from three bases in Alberta, including Calgary, Edmonton and Grande Prairie, as well as bases in Saskatchewan and Manitoba, providing air ambulance services to critically ill and injured patients. The organization listed 74 visits to Lethbridge last year.

The lottery brings in net funds of over $11 million and is the single largest source of funding for STARS in Alberta.

Thousands of prizes are available through the lottery including grand prize homes in Edmonton, Calgary, Red Deer and Lethbridge. The $780,000 Lethbridge home is located at 68 Greywolf Road North. Other prizes include vehicles, vacations, electronics and outdoor equipment.

Tickets will be on sale until midnight Wednesday and are sold for $25 each, three for $60, six for $100 and 18 for $250. Tickets are available by mail or in person at the show homes or STARS bases, by phone at 1-888-8800992, by fax at 1-877-787-7329 or online at
