MATCHING PETS WITH PEOPLE

-

Lulu is inviting you to come to our craft sale at “Meet Your Maker” at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch on Mayor Magrath Drive today from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. We have a variety of home-made craft items and baked goods for sale to raise money to pay for rescue expenses. Lulu is a 10-year-old dilute calico who has been waiting for her forever home. She is a quiet and gentle cat who gets along with other cats and dogs. The Last Chance Cat Ranch is a not-for-profit, no-kill rescue that is registered provincially and federally. We have over 30 cats available for adoption. You can read more about us by visiting us on Facebook at www.facebook.com/lastchancecatranch or our website at www.thelastchancecatranch.com. Thank you to everyone who donated to our bottle drive last weekend and to everyone who supports our rescue efforts.

Custer was a stray, living on his own, when he was rescued and brought to the Humane Society. He was likely born in the winter of 2014-15. Custer has rugged good looks, and lots of battle scars from his days on his own. He likes people and meows for attention. He prefers not to associate with the other cats, and can be scrappy with the other males. Custer hasn’t had the luxury of his own Forever Home, but will certainly enjoy being loved and cared for.

If you are interested in meeting Custer, you can visit him at the Lethbridge Humane Society (2920 16 Ave. N. or call 403320-8991). To view other Haven pets, go to

Come and meet pretty Silver today at Homes Alive from noon to 3 p.m. What does silver mean to you? Second place? Second best? If that’s what you think, you will change your mind when you meet this Silver. About a year and a half old, her grey tabby colouring matches her name. She may start slow but once she gets to know the game, she picks up speed. This is especially true of toys, any toy, but she’ll be a champion with one that can be knocked about. Other animals? Yes, Silver likes to have a teammate. She has befriended one of the cats in her foster home, and they have a fun time together. Dogs? No, she doesn’t think they’re the opposition, but she may require time to learn their moves. But people — people are her goal. She likes to be close to you and maybe play with your hair or nuzzle you while you watch TV. Find out why Silver is a winner by calling PAW at 403-328-6700 or fill out an inquiry at www.pawsociety.com, where you can also read more about her. Take home a gold — with Silver.

Violet came to us a year ago when she was approximately six months old. She had been living under a shed and was sick with an upper respiratory infection. She is very healthy now; however, she needs to be on gastro food because she has a sensitive stomach. Violet is a beautiful, petite girl. She is very shy but once she feels secure in her surroundings she will shower you with her love and affection. Call Linda (403-381-9269) or Sam (403-382-0977) of Purrfect Endings Rescue for more information about sweet, little Violet. We are also on Facebook. Purrfect Endings takes in many cats with special needs who require special food and/or special medical care. We are always in need of donations to help offset these costs. No amount is too small. We would like to thank all the wonderful individuals who have donated. Words cannot express our gratitude. We would also like to thank Petland for their help with some adult rabbits and babies.

Carlos is a five-year-old Chihuahua cross. He is happy and confident. He loves to go for walks and is very happy to entertain himself with every sight and smell you pass. Carlos is the kind of dog that is happy doing whatever you want. He has the energy and stamina to keep up with almost anyone. He is quiet in the house and is housetrained as well as crate-trained. He loves to play fetch and is great at returning the toy directly to your hand or lap.

Carlos doesn’t know a lot of obedience commands (his foster home is working on that!) but he’s not very high-maintenance despite that. He loves food and is a fast learner so we know he’ll have the house rules memorized in no time. Carlos is great with other dogs but he would do best in a quieter household with no children. Call 403-359-3139 for more information on the adoption process, fees or volunteering. Visit www.windycityrescue.com.
