The religious community’s bulletin board of activities appears each Saturday in The Herald. • Six O’clock in the Chapel, an evening Vesper service with beautiful music, will be held April 8 at 6 p.m. in the Buchanan Chapel at Southminster United Church (enter at chapel doors, 1011 4 Ave. S.). Everyone is welcome to this brief and personal service featuring reflections by the inspiring Jane Meaker and music by Monica Baczuk, piano and flute. • The 17th Annual Gideon Banquet will take place April 8 at 6:30 p.m. at Coaldale Mennonite Brethren Church, 2114 18 St., featuring guest speaker Casey Bjorndal. • Contemplatio will take place April 9 at 7:30 p.m. at the Martha Retreat Centre (Note: a week earlier than the regular time), featuring ecumenical, meditative, multilingual, musical devotion, based on the music and style of the French ecumenical religious community of Taizé, a world renowned centre of pilgrimage and prayer. The group meets September through June on the third Sunday of each month. All are invited and welcome. • The Missions Thrift Store, located at 1004 1 Ave. S., is open Monday-Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Profits go toward mission work and Bibles for people in China and other Asian countries. Phone 403-327-3199. • The MCC Thrift Shop, across the street from Save-On Foods. Proceeds from the store go to support poverty reduction projects around the world through Mennonite Central Committee.
