HomeBASE back home
A downtown service agency has fully re-opened nearly a year after a truck crashed through its walls.
HomeBASE Centralized Intake and Referrals officially opened Tuesday back at its own location at 312 Stafford Drive S.
“A huge thank you to all of the community partners who opened their doors to us during the last year, and enabled the program to continue to do its important work in the community,” the organization said in a release.
“A special thanks to the City of Lethbridge, the Lethbridge Public Library and McMan Youth Family and Community Services Association for allowing the program to use meeting spaces at their locations; and a huge thanks to ARCHES Lethbridge for opening their doors and providing temporary office space throughout this time.”
In June 2016, HomeBASE Services had to temporarily suspend its local operations following a collision that damaged much of its building.
A driver was believed to have suffered a medical distress incident. There were no injuries to anyone who was on the premises at the time of the incident.
The service agency is operated by the Canadian Mental Health Association, Lethbridge Region, providing centralized information, assessment, triage, screening and referral for homeless services.
“HomeBASE plays a functional role in demonstrating what SHIA (Social Housing in Action) is doing to end homelessness in Lethbridge; providing a seamless entry into the Lethbridge Housing First programs, while following specific inclusion and exclusion criteria for each of the programs,” they say.
HomeBASE will be open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday to Friday. Those looking to connect with services will be able to drop in during regular business hours or reach the office at 403-942-7040.
