CIP grant to help library
MONEY WILL PAY FOR DIGITAL SIGNAGE
A grant from the provincial government is going to be used for digital signage to increase accessibility from the Lethbridge Public Library.
On Friday, Lethbridge West MLA Shannon Phillips was on had at the Sustainival grounds in the Enmax Centre parking lot to deliver a cheque to library executive director Terra Plato amounting to $40,500.
The grant was made possible through the Community Initiatives Program.
“These are the kinds of community investments that ensure that families have what they need,” said Phillips.
Digital signage is being implemented in the library to place monitors through the main branch downtown which will give visitors information they need when visiting the library.
“It will tell them about collections, how to find what they need and programs going on,” said Plato. “It will also talk about special events and community partnerships we have going on.”
She noted the goal is to make the library more accessible for people coming in to find what they need and to participate in the programming and events that are of interest to them.
She said the library is very appreciative of the support the the facility gets through the provincial government.
“We are able make use of a few grants through the government to enhance our community programs,” she said.
“What it really does is allow us to increase our capacity, and allows us to have better and more services, and really, just expand our reach into the community.”
CIP is a fund to support initiatives that enhance and enrich communities. The program reinvests lottery revenue into communities to meet local needs.
