Kudos to the ‘Cudas

-

Barracudas captain McMurray added two goals and Jaryn McNeil, Wiley and Draper chipped in with one each.

Dominick Jones earned the win in goal for Lethbridge.

“It sounds awesome,” said McMurray of the team’s 18-0 record. “We’ve been pushing and striving for this since April. Everyone has been out pushing and grinding. It’s not over yet.”

But a united effort has gotten them this far.

“We’re just a brotherhood,” said McMurray, who had 27 goals and 51 points in 13 games. “Everybody has everybody else’s back. We really follow that, everyone is out there for each other.”

Thanks to their undefeated season, the Cudas will get a breather with a bye until midJuly against at southern opponent to-be-determined.

If they have their way, the wins will continue in two weeks as the Cudas look to get back to the provincial title, this time with a different outcome in mind after an 11-10 loss to the Olds Mavericks.

“We’re in an active rest phase,” said Pilling. “We need to take care of some injuries. We can’t let the line go slack at this point of the season. The big thing is keeping going. We set goals at the beginning of the year and it’s to win the provincial championship. This is great, but it doesn’t mean anything if we get to the provincial final and lose like we did last year. We want to back this up, for sure.”

McMurray remembers the sting of the loss last year.

Understandably, the captain wants a different outcome next month.

“We want it and we’re coming for it.”
