Both men in custody with help of tip from the public

Two men are facing murder charges in connection with the death of a 45-year-old Lethbridge man who was killed at his home on Monday. Lethbridge Police have charged Rylan James Wyatt Twigg, 23, and Simon Danny Scout, 19, with second-degree murder.

Twigg was arrested without incident on Monday at about 5:20 p.m., when he attended the police station in connection with First Rider’s death.

Scout was arrested later in the day following a public tip after an arrest warrant had been issued, police said.

Lethbridge EMS responded to an unresponsive man at a home in the 1200 block of 9 Avenue North Monday at about 7:20 a.m.

The man, later identified as 45-year-old Kenrick Leonard First Rider, was pronounced dead at the scene and police were subsequently contacted.

Previously, the victim’s family requested his name be withheld but next of kin have now asked that it be released.

Police say their investigation determined First Rider had been involved in a verbal dispute with two other men at the home, which escalated to a physical altercation that resulted in First Rider sustaining fatal injuries.

Upon completion of an autopsy in Calgary Tuesday, his death was officially ruled a homicide.

Police say investigation in the matter is ongoing. A media availability will be scheduled for today.

This is the second homicide in Lethbridge this year.
