- LETHBRIDGE HERALD

University of Lethbridge swimmers Joel Robinson and Christyna Dashko swept the Two Guys and a Pizza Place Pronghorn Athletes of the Week for the week ending Nov. 26.

Robinson, a fourth-year swimmer, led the way for the men’s swim team last weekend at the Canada West Championships in Victoria, as the men’s team placed sixth and Robinson was one of two men to return home with medals.

The Regina, Sask., product won the program’s first gold medal since 2005, capturing the 50-metre breaststroke, setting a new school record in the process.

Robinson also set a new school in the 100 breast, narrowly missed the podium in finishing fourth.

He also placed 10th in the 200 breast and was a member of both the Pronghorns 400 medley and freestyle relays that finished sixth.

Robinson has already qualified for the U Sports Swim Championships in Toronto in February.

Meanwhile, Dashko, competing in her final conference championship, was a key point scorer in the Pronghorn women’s fifth-place finish, winning two medals and setting three records.

Dashko opened the championships with a silver medal in the 50 breast, the first medal by a Pronghorn female swimmer since 2012. She also broke her own school record in the event.

On day two, Dashko picked up her second medal, swimming to bronze in 100 breast, breaking another one of her school records in the process.

Her third school record came in the 200 breast, where placed fifth.

Dashko was also part of the Pronghorns 400 medley relay, with Chyanne Simpson, Brooke Kienas and Tricia Fair that finished fifth and with a school record.

Dashko is one of five Pronghorns to have qualified for the U Sports Championships in Toronto in February.
