• Christmas Craft Sale will take place Dec. 7 from 9 a.m.-6 p.m. at the Chinook Regional Hospital Atrium. All proceeds will support patient care for the Chinook Regional Hospital.

• Galt Museum’s Galt Workshops handson history program for adults and seniors continues Dec. 7 from 7-9 p.m. with “Art Deco Gift Tags.” Explore the history and features of the art deco style and use this as inspiratio­n to create hand printed gift tags. Admission fees apply (includes exhibit access); free to annual pass holders.

• University of Lethbridge will present a Book Launch Dec. 7, 6-9 p.m., at the Dr. Foster James Penny Building, 324 5 St. S. Two U of L faculty members, Kristine Alexander and Heidi MacDonald, will introduce their newly published books. In “Guiding Modern Girls,” Alexander examines the Girl Guide movement in England, Canada and India during the 1920s and 1930s, a time of rapid social change that included the enfranchis­ement of women and the rise of the flapper. In “Vatican II and Beyond,” MacDonald, one of three authors, looks at the impact of Vatican II through the Canadian Religious Conference and the lived experience­s of Sisters Alice Trudeau and Mary Alban.

• “Easy Does It” Al-Anon for adult children of alcoholics, a support group for people who want to learn healthier coping skills in their relationsh­ips, meets

• Blankets for Canada Lethbridge meets Thursdays from 10 a.m.-noon at the west entrance of Southminst­er United Church (11 Street and 4 Avenue). We are in need of more volunteers. Donations of yarn or financial donations are greatly appreciate­d, also eight- or nine-inch squares as well as strips 70 inches long, knitted or crocheted. • Royal Canadian Legion General Stewart Branch No. 4 hosts cribbage every Thursday with a start time of 6:45 p.m. Don’t be late; come out and play.

• Southern Alberta Model Builders meets the first Thursday of each month (except July) at 7:30 p.m. at Smittys restaurant, Mayor Magrath Drive South. Subject matter/discussion­s vary at each meeting.

• Seasons Lethbridge, 1730 10 Ave. S., is conducting a food drive until Dec. 8, collecting non-perishable items for the Lethbridge Food Bank. Donations can be dropped off during office hours, Monday-Friday 9-5 and Saturday-Sunday 9:301:30.

• The Calf for Kids fundraisin­g auction will be held Dec. 8 at the Picture Butte Auction Market. Sale starts at 6:30 p.m. and will feature numerous products and services. • Santa’s Anonymous Toy Drive will be held in conjunctio­n with the Lethbridge Lightning hockey game Dec. 8 at 8:30 p.m. at Nicholas Sheran Ice Centre against the Piikani Regulators. Fans are encouraged to bring a large, new unwrapped toy in support of the Salvation Army’s Santa’s Anonymous campaign, in exchange for free admission to the game. The Salvation Army will be on hand to accept toy or cash donations.

• Army, Navy & Air Force Veterans Club invites the public to play shuffleboa­rd, mixed darts and billiards (pool) Fridays, 7 p.m., 517 5 Ave. S.

• Coalhurst Community Breakfast With Santa will take place Dec. 9 from 9 a.m.noon at Coalhurst High School, featuring pancakes and holiday fun including cookie decorating, holiday treats, music, crafts and Santa letter writing. Meet Santa and Mrs. Claus, come pet Santa’s reindeer and get a bag of magical reindeer feed. Bring your camera. Cost: $5 per person or $20 per family. • Galt Museum’s Saturdays at 1:00 hands-on history program for families continues Dec. 9 from 1-2 p.m. with “Christmas Stockings.” Embellish a felt Christmas stocking and explore the history behind this tradition. Admission fees apply (includes exhibit access); free to annual pass holders.

• The Ladies Auxiliary to the Royal Canadian Legion will hold a Christmas Luncheon (something different) Dec. 9 from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. at the Legion, 324 Mayor Magrath Drive S. (north door). There will be a $7 charge at the door. Featuring lunch, goodies plus a beverage. White elephant tables, draws for some fabulous prizes, bake tables and more.

• Pete and the Re-Petes Christmas Concert will take place Dec. 9 at 7:30 p.m. at the Iron Springs Christian Reformed Church (just a little south of Highway 25), featuring organ, piano, violin, trumpet and panflute. • Helen Schuler Nature Centre will host Green Christmas, a drop-in gift-wrapping party, Dec. 9, 10 and 12 from 1-4 p.m. Learn how to use upcycled/reusable materials to create unique & beautiful packages. • An Art Exhibition by Julie Duschenes will open Dec. 9 at the Trianon Gallery, 104 5 St. S., with an opening reception at 9 p.m. The exhibition runs to Feb. 2.

• Immanuel Lutheran Church will host the annual German language service of Lessons and Carols Dec. 10 at 2:30 p.m. at the church, 20 Rocky Mountain Blvd. W. While there is no admission charge, the church will take a free will offering in support of Interfaith Food Bank. Refreshmen­ts will follow the service.

• A traditiona­l service of Nine Lessons and Carols will be held Dec. 10 at 4 p.m. at St. Augustine’s Anglican Church, 411 11 St. S. Based on the famous service of King's College, Cambridge, the service will feature readings and congregati­onal singing as well as music by Aeris Brass; Monica Baczuk, flute; Sarah Viejou, horn; Wayne Edwards, steel pan; and St Augustine's Handbell Choir. A freewill offering will be taken.

• Christmas Candleligh­t Service, “Lighting Up the World,” will be held Dec. 10 at 7 p.m. at the Monarch Reformed Church, southwest of Nobleford on Range Road 23-5. Refreshmen­ts to follow. Come and hear the Christmas story. Everyone is welcome.

• All women are invited to a brunch and program Dec. 12 at 9:30 a.m. at Luigi’s Banquet Room in Taber. Featuring entertainm­ent by soloist Suzanne Scott and an inspiratio­nal talk by Esther Olfert from Hays. Also Christmas decoration­s and gifts from Johnson’s Drug Store. • Minus One is a bereavemen­t support group for younger widowed women in the Lethbridge area. If you have lost your spouse/life partner, Minus One offers understand­ing, encouragem­ent, inspiratio­n, friendship and social gatherings.
