• Seasons Lethbridge, 1730 10 Ave. S., is conducting a food drive until Dec. 8, collecting non-perishable items for the Lethbridge Food Bank. Donations can be dropped off during office hours, MondayFrid­ay 9-5 and Saturday-Sunday 9:301:30.

• The Calf for Kids fundraisin­g auction will be held Dec. 8 at the Picture Butte Auction Market. Sale starts at 6:30 p.m. and will feature numerous products and services. • The Lethbridge Christian Women’s and Men’s Choirs will present their annual Christmas concert “A Season of Praise” Dec. 8 at 7:30 p.m. at St Andrew’s Presbyteri­an Church, 1818 5 Ave. S.

• Santa’s Anonymous Toy Drive will be held in conjunctio­n with the Lethbridge Lightning hockey game Dec. 8 at 8:30 p.m. at Nicholas Sheran Ice Centre against the Piikani Regulators. Fans are encouraged to bring a large, new unwrapped toy in support of the Salvation Army’s Santa’s Anonymous campaign, in exchange for free admission to the game. The Salvation Army will be on hand to accept toy or cash donations.

• Army, Navy & Air Force Veterans Club invites the public to play shuffleboa­rd, mixed darts and billiards (pool) Fridays, 7 p.m., 517 5 Ave. S. • TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly), a non-profit organizati­on which provides support to people wanting to lose weight, meets regularly in Lethbridge and area. • Coalhurst Community Breakfast With Santa will take place Dec. 9 from 9 a.m.-noon at Coalhurst High School, featuring pancakes and holiday fun including cookie decorating, holiday treats, music, crafts and Santa letter writing. Meet Santa and Mrs. Claus, come pet Santa’s reindeer and get a bag of magical reindeer feed. Bring your camera. Cost: $5 per person or $20 per family. • Galt Museum’s Saturdays at 1:00 hands-on history program for families continues Dec. 9 from 1-2 p.m. with “Christmas Stockings.” Embellish a felt Christmas stocking and explore the history behind this tradition. Admission fees apply (includes exhibit access); free to annual pass holders.

• The Ladies Auxiliary to the Royal Canadian Legion will hold a Christmas Luncheon (something different) Dec. 9 from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. at the Legion, 324 Mayor Magrath Drive S. (north door). There will be a $7 charge at the door. Featuring lunch, goodies plus a beverage. White elephant tables, draws for some fabulous prizes, bake tables and more.

• Sobeys Uplands Give the Gift of Food event will take place Dec. 9 from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. in support of Interfaith Food Bank. Donations can be made at the tills in any variable denominati­ons and will receive 5 Air Miles Reward Miles per every $2 donated (maximum of 20 Air Miles awarded per transactio­n). Anyone who makes a donation to Interfaith Food Bank will have their name entered to win a free turkey dinner with all the fixings. Visit Santa; free coffee, hot chocolate, cake and cookies. • Pete and the Re-Petes Christmas Concert will take place Dec. 9 at 7:30 p.m. at the Iron Springs Christian Reformed Church (just a little south of Highway 25), featuring organ, piano, violin, trumpet and panflute. • Helen Schuler Nature Centre will host Green Christmas, a drop-in gift-wrapping party, Dec. 9, 10 and 12 from 1-4 p.m. Learn how to use upcycled/reusable materials to create unique & beautiful packages. Admission is $2 per gift or by donation. Materials provided, as well as apple cider and hot cocoa. Bring your unwrapped gifts and your creativity.

• An Art Exhibition by Julie Duschenes will open Dec. 9 at the Trianon Gallery, 104 5 St. S., with an opening reception at 9 p.m. The exhibition runs to Feb. 2.

• West Wind Gymnastics Club offers drop-in fun on Saturdays from 2-4 p.m. It’s a great opportunit­y to practise your gymnastic skills in a friendly, supervised environmen­t. Age 5 and under $6 and must be accompanie­d by an adult; 6 and older $12.

• Trigeminal Neuralgia Support Group meets the second Saturday of the month at 2 p.m. in Room C and D at the LSCO, 500 11 St. S. Trigeminal neuralgia is a neuropathi­c disorder characteri­zed by episodes of intense pain in the face, originatin­g from the trigeminal nerve. • Immanuel Lutheran Church will host the annual German language service of Lessons and Carols Dec. 10 at 2:30 p.m. at the church, 20 Rocky Mountain Blvd. W. While there is no admission charge, the church will take a free will offering in support of Interfaith Food Bank. Refreshmen­ts after the service.

• A traditiona­l service of Nine Lessons and Carols will be held Dec. 10 at 4 p.m. at St. Augustine’s Anglican Church, 411 11 St. S. Based on the famous service of King's College, Cambridge, the service will feature readings and congregati­onal singing as well as music by Aeris Brass; Monica Baczuk, flute; Sarah Viejou, horn; Wayne Edwards, steel pan; and St Augustine's Handbell Choir. A freewill offering will be taken.

• Christmas Candleligh­t Service, “Lighting Up the World,” will be held Dec. 10 at 7 p.m. at the Monarch Reformed Church, southwest of Nobleford on Range Road 23-5. Refreshmen­ts to follow. Come and hear the Christmas story. Everyone is welcome.

• All women are invited to a brunch and program Dec. 12 at 9:30 a.m. at Luigi’s Banquet Room in Taber. Featuring entertainm­ent by soloist Suzanne Scott and an inspiratio­nal talk by Esther Olfert from Hays. Also featured will be Christmas decoration­s and gifts from Johnson’s Drug Store. • Shakespear­e Meets Dickens, a Christmas celebratio­n and a fundraiser for Shakespear­e in the Park, will take place Dec. 12, 7 p.m. at Casa. Take in a performanc­e of Dickens’ beloved “A Christmas Carol,” and Songs and Scenes from Shakespear­e, and join in singing some well-known Christmas carols. Enjoy Tudor and Victorian favourites, including beef sandwiches, mince pies and fruit cake, mulled wine and local beer. • YWCA Lethbridge & District’s annual “Stockings of Hope” campaign is now underway, continuing until Dec. 15. Stockings are hung on the fireplace in the YWCA lobby. Included on each stocking is a wish-list for a particular woman, as well as informatio­n (gender, age, size) for any children who may be with her. Residents and businesses can stop by the YWCA at 604 8 St. S. to “adopt” a stocking. They purchase some or all of the gifts on the list, then return the gifts, unwrapped, to the YWCA on or before Dec. 15. For more informatio­n, call 403-329-0088.

• Free FoodFit classes will be offered beginning in January at Interfaith Food Bank, 1103 3 Ave. N. Classes will take place Tuesdays from 5:30-8:30 p.m. or
