Weigh-in time: 9-9:45 a.m. Meeting: 10-11 a.m. TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) is a not-for-profit support group for members who are trying to lose or maintain their weight. • The Harambee Grandmas, Lethbridge chapter of the Stephen Lewis Foundation’s “Grandmothers to Grandmothers Campaign,” will host its next Travel Chat Jan. 25 at 7:30 p.m. at Casa (ATB Financial Community Room), 230 8 St. S., featuring “Roman Holiday.” Presenters Grant and Denise Alger share their discovery of the breathtaking wonders of The Eternal City. • The Southern Alberta Zone Juried Show & Sale will be hosted by the Lethbridge Artists Club. This show is part of a province-wide effort by the Alberta Community Art Clubs Association who invite local artists to participate in juried exhibitions in their area. • The Lethbridge Robert Burns Society will hold the 47th annual formal Burns Supper and Dance Jan. 27 at the Multicultural Centre. • The Lethbridge Twinning Society invites community members to participate in this year’s potluck reception to be held Jan. 27 at 6 p.m. The Lethbridge Twinning Society aims to promote friendship, peace and understanding among people from different countries. In celebration of a new year, the society would like to celebrate continued friendships with Culver City, California; Timashevsk, Russia; Towada City, Japan and the City of Great Falls, Montana. As part of the celebration, a student group from the University of Lethbridge (Consejo Quintanarroense de Ciencia y Tecnologia) will perform a cultural dance. • Lethbridge Senior Citizens Organization will offer “Working with Windows 10” Mondays and Wednesdays, Jan. 29-Feb. 4 from 10 a.m.-noon at the LSCO, 500 11 St. S. This class is designed for anyone learning to use a computer for the first time, or for anyone who feels lost in front of a modern computer. The class will guide you in the basics of using the computer, and allow you to navigate the computer more confidently. Fee: $35 for LSCO members, $60 for non-members. • Transitions, a 15-week peer support program to help those who are separated or divorced, will take place Tuesday evenings beginning Jan. 30 from 7-9 p.m. at St. Basil’s Parish Hall (604 13 St. N.). Participants will meet once a week to reflect upon and discuss topics such as self-esteem, grief, stress, anger, guilt, blame, loneliness, forgiveness, blended families and more. • Lethbridge Senior Citizens Organization will offer the Heart & Stroke Basic Life Support (BLS) Provider course Jan. 31 and again Feb. 6 from 5-9 p.m. at the LSCO, 500 11 St. S. Participants will learn to promptly recognize several life–threatening emergencies, give high–quality chest compressions, deliver appropriate ventilations, and provide early use of an AED. • Fort Macleod 4H Beef Club Sponsorship Night will take place Feb. 6 at the Fort Macleod Community Hall, 301 25 St. Roast beef supper at 5:30 p.m. (cost by donation), silent auction throughout the evening. • Are You On Your Own? Come for the 3 C’s (Cooking, Conversation & Companionship), a six-week cooking class for individuals who live alone, Tuesdays,
Feb. 6-March 13 at 2:30 p.m. at McKillop United Church, 2329 15 Ave. S. Instruction will be given each week to create simple, healthy meals to be taken home. The class offers the opportunity to interact with individuals in the same circumstances and to develop new friendships. Cost: $50 per person (fee must be paid at time of registration). Dance will be held Feb. 10 at 6:30 p.m. at the Raymond Cultural Hall, 200 W and Church Avenue.
