Clippers move into tie for third place

The LCI Clippers varsity girls have moved into a tie for third place in the Southern Alberta High School Basketball League.

The Clippers were at home Wednesday night and earned a 79-36 win over the Chinook Coyotes that improves LCI to 4-2 and into a tie for third with the Cardston Cougars (4-1).

Leading the Clippers was Maitlynn Miller with 32 points, while Berkley Heggie had a 21-point night.

For the Coyotes, Charlize Baron led the way with 13 points.

In Magrath Wednesday night, the Pandas defeated the Catholic Central Cougars 75-41 to improve to 6-1 and into a tie with the Raymond Comets (6-0) for first place.

Sage Finck led the Pandas with 14 points, Ellie Wilde put up 11 and Lucy Wilde and Montana Berezay each had 10. For Catholic Central, Chloe Bevans scored 13 points. In the junior varsity game, Magrath won 70-54 as Wilde had 16 points and Elley Johnson and Hannah Barfuss had 11. Tiffani Winchester added 10 points for Magrath. For the Cougars, Kyra Collier posted 22 points. In JV play Wednesday the Comets downed the Winston Churchill Griffins 89-22.

The Comets were led by Rees Armener’s 23 points, while Haely Lamontagne added 17.

Taylor Graves and Cassidy Quinton scored 12 and 11 points, respective­ly.

In play Tuesday, the Magrath Pandas defeated the Chinook Coyotes 75-31.

Montana Berezay topped the Pandas point-getters with 19 points and Lauren Payne added 14.

Wilde and Jenna Taylor each had 10 points for Magrath. Mackenzie Harms and Baron had 11 and 10 point, respective­ly, for the Coyotes.
