GOOD SAMARITAN - CRIB PLAYING & EVENING PROGRAM VOLUNTEERS

Good Samaritan Park Meadows is looking for a gentleman that would be interested in visiting or playing crib with a number of their male

residents who enjoy the game as well as the company. Volunteeri­ng time is flexible for the individual interested in this volunteer role. These special social nights could be a movie, theme nights, The World around Us, or current events. This program is run from 5:45 pm to 7:30 p.m. and is flexible on the weekday depending upon the volunteer’s availabili­ty. Training is provided and a vulnerable records check is required at no cost to the volunteer for both opportunit­ies. UNITED WAY OF LETHBRIDGE MERCHANT VOLUNTEERS

On Tuesday, February 6, the United Way will be presenting a Poverty Simulation to 80 Public Health 1000 students to help them gain a stronger understand­ing of the impact of poverty on mental and physical health. Volunteers for this

activity act out the roles of reallife services and interact with the

students as they try to pay bills, go to work, stay healthy and keep track of their mock families. Volunteers act as Bankers, Social Service Workers, Doctors, Community Service workers and more. Specific instructio­ns for different roles will be provided, as well as a group orientatio­n before the activity. A one-on-one orientatio­n can also be arranged if desired. The activity will take place in the SU Ballrooms at the University of Lethbridge. The U of L is accessible by public transit and the room is wheelchair accessible. VOLUNTEER LETHBRIDGE – RECEPTIONI­ST VOLUNTEER

Volunteer Lethbridge is seeking a profession­al receptioni­st to cover

a Wednesday morning shift from 8:30 a.m.-noon. There is some flexibilit­y in beginning and end time. Perfect position for an individual who prefers to only answer the phone and greet traffic or for an individual who would like to develop other administra­tive skills. Volunteer Lethbridge will work together with you to make these opportunit­y as fulfilling as you like. Required duties include answering a 2 line switchboar­d, greeting traffic coming into the building and possibly other tasks including but not limited to data entry and internet research. The ideal candidate will have previous experience in customer service, be punctual and reliable. UNIVERSITY OF LETHBIDGE – PLAY DAY VOLUNTEERS

ARCHES LETHBRIDGE – WALKING OUTREACH VOLUNTEERS

Walking outreach is completed daily by volunteers and ARCHES staff. Volunteers will have the opportunit­y to walk throughout the downtown core of Lethbridge and hand out harm-reduction supplies and other material to our homeless and street involved individual­s. The walk is around 5 km and will take from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. If weather conditions are not suitable, the walk will turn into a drive around the downtown core. This drive will be completed by the staff member in their vehicles with the volunteers as passengers. Volunteers are asked to commit to one day a week and ARCHES asks it be the same day weekly. GREAT CANADIAN PLAINS RAILWAY SOCIETY – BINGO VOLUNTEERS

Great Canadian Plains Railway Society holds bingos twice monthly and are looking for volunteers that would be interested in helping them out. There is a great group of volunteers currently but they need more so they can rotate the assignment­s. All training is provided as well as a meal and beverage for each shift. Volunteers will be selling tickets and making change so a knowledge of basic math would be helpful. If you are interested please contact Janice at 403-320-0482.
