Cobras boys win at home

The Claresholm Willow Creek Cobras downed the Stirling Lakers at home during Deep South Basketball Conference play Thursday.

The Cobras posted an 85-54 win over the Lakers as Jean Pierre Otero Rodriguez paced Willow Creek with 17 points.

Nic Harder and Cole Dixon added 16 and 15 points, respective­ly, for the Cobras.

Carson Sillito had a 16-point night for the Lakers and Orin Smith added 12.

In the junior varsity game Stirling won 82-47.

Smith topped the Lakers point scorers with 26 points, while Ty Mazutinec and Sillito each had 12.

Daniel Schuepbach scored 14 points for Willow Creek and teammate Jackson Hamlyn had 10.

In girls action Thursday, the Lakers defeated the Cobras in Stirling.

Savannah led the Lakers with 31 points and Sadie Nelson had 28.

For Willow Creek, Emily Chartrand led the way with 11 points. Kelby Keely had 10.

The Lakers won the junior varsity game 72-37.

Halle Smith led Stirling with 21 points and Talia Oviatt added 13. Hillary Shockey added 12 for the Lakers.

Kitty Fox replied with 18 points for the Cobras.

In girls play on Wednesday, the Picture Butte Sugar Queens topped the Fort Macleod F.P. Walshe Flyers 51-48, led by Nicole Elaschuk’s 15 points and Reegan Molenaar’s 14.

Teigan Trotter led the Flyers with 14 points and Sheridan George-Orr added 13.

In other girls action Wednesday, the Immanuel Christian Eagles defeated the Pride 65-50 as Brittney Vande Munt led the Eagles with 33 points.

Raegan Abrey replied with 16 points for Kate Andrews.

The Pride won the junior varsity game 44-39.

Bailie Kasko had 26 points for the Pride and Olivia Leenstra hit for 14 points for Immanuel Christian.

Also on Wednesday, the Immanuel Christian Eagles boys downed the Coaldale Kate Andrews Pride 76-63.

Landon Veluw had 25 points and Ryan Degner hit for 21. Levi Vroom had an 18-point game for Immanuel Christian.

For the Pride, Andrew Thompson and Zae Milligan had 20 and 18 points, respective­ly.

The Eagles won the junior varsity game 76-44 as Justin Withage and Shaun Boone each had 11 points and Joel Deweert drained 10.

Ethan Boras led Kate Andrews with 10.
