• The Probus Club will hold its monthly meeting Feb. 21 at 9:30 a.m. at Country Kitchen Catering (lower level of The Keg). Guest speaker Michael Stephens, project manager of Fortis Alberta, will share his diary notations and photos in a lecture regarding Fortis’ efforts to restore power to the town of Waterton after last year’s fire. He will also discuss Alberta’s electrical grid system and how we get power from source to the user which includes our residences. A $5 fee is required at the door. Guests are most welcome.

• Galt Museum’s Daytime Galt Workshops hands-on history program for adults and seniors continues Feb. 21 from 10:30 a.m.-noon, featuring “Painted Rocks.” Learn about the history of rock gardens and make your own painted rock to keep as decoration in your garden. Admission fees apply (includes exhibit access); free to annual pass holders.

• Galt Museum’s Wednesdays at the Galt lecture series for adults and seniors continues Feb. 21 from 2-3 p.m., featuring “A Collection of Music.” Enjoy a musical performanc­e by Chris Roedler as he plays a collection of his favourite songs that tell stories and paint images. Admission fees apply (includes exhibit access); free to annual pass holders.

• Seasons Lethbridge, 1730 10 Ave. S. (across from the hospital) will hold a jam session Feb. 21 at 6:30 p.m. Everyone welcome. •

McKillop United Church’s Justice,

Peace and Social Action group will host a talk by James Daschuk, the award-winning author of “Clearing the Plains: Disease, Politics of Starvation, and the Loss of Aboriginal Life,” Feb. 21 at 7 p.m. at Southminst­er United Church, 1011 4 Ave. S. Daschuk, a professor at the University of Regina, will be speaking about his research into how First Nations population­s were driven from their traditiona­l hunting grounds onto reserves in the mid1800s, and the resulting tragedy. A time to share conversati­on and coffee will follow at 8:30 p.m. in the church fellowship hall. Held in partnershi­p with Southminst­er United Church, Southern Alberta Council on Public Affairs and Ecumenical Campus Ministry.

• Boys and Girls Club of Lethbridge will host its 5th annual “I Stand Against” event Feb. 21 from 7-9 p.m. at the Galt Museum and Archives. I Stand Against: Mental Health Stigmas tackles issues of bullying and abuse in the community. There will be over 20 organizati­on in attendance with activities including art therapy, yoga therapy, and pet therapy sessions. There will also be food and beverages along with youth and community speakers to talk about their experience with mental health.

• Coaldale Sunny South Speakers Toastmaste­rs Club meets Wednesdays, 7-8:15 p.m. at the Coaldale Public Library. Hone your public speaking and leadership skills in a friendly, supportive environmen­t. Everyone welcome. For more informatio­n, contact Jeff Forrest, 403-345-2980.

• The Lethbridge Scottish Country Dance Club holds social dancing Wednesdays from 7-9 p.m. at St. Andrew’s Presbyteri­an Church, 1818 5 Ave. S. Bring soft-soled shoes. • Blankets for Canada Lethbridge meets Thursdays from 10 a.m.-noon at the west entrance of Southminst­er United Church (11 Street and 4 Avenue). We are in need of more volunteers. Donations of yarn or financial donations are greatly appreciate­d, also eight- or nine-inch squares as well as strips 70 inches long, knitted or crocheted. • Are you looking for a free place to get your kids out of the house doing productive things on a Thursday evening? Me and My Family promotes learning through play in a space designed for caregivers and their children to explore and grow.
