Hurricane Hounds win division title

The Lethbridge midget AA Hurricane Hounds won the South Central Alberta Hockey League South Division championsh­ip on home ice last weekend.

Hosting the playdowns, the Hurricanes went 5-0 on their way to the title, downing the Medicine Hat Can Pac Environmen­tal Hounds 2-1 in the final Sunday.

Lethbridge started the weekend with a 6-1 win over the Foothills Bisons and moved to 20 with a 9-4 decision over the Taber Golden Suns.

The Hurricanes began Saturday with a 13-3 win over the Okotoks Oilers to earn a spot in the semifinal against the Wheatland Chiefs.

In that game, the Canes posted a 6-2 win to reach the final.

Sean Park was in goal for all five Hurricanes games and faced 118 shots during the weekend.

Spencer Kennedy led Lethbridge with eight goals and six assists, Griffen Fraser added six goals and five assists, Zach Trempner had four goals and eight assists and Connor Zdan put up five goals and three assists.

Jason Creighton added four goals and four assists, .T.J Johnson scored three goals and two assists, Braden Grue had three goals and two assists, Kade Ferguson had one goal and five assists and Ethan Merriman scored once and added two helpers. Dylan Stevenson had eight assists during the weekend.

The Hurricanes Hounds are back on home ice Thursday as they host Game 1 of the best-ofthree series against the North Division champions Bow Valley Timberwolv­es.

Game time is 6:15 p.m. at Henderson Arena.

Game 2 goes Saturday in Cochrane at 4.15 p.m. and if necessary, Game 3 is Sunday in Lethbridge.
