South Lethbridge residents in the Fleetwood Bawden and Scenic Drive neighbourhoods should be prepared for traffic and other disruptions as a sixweek sanitary sewer relining project in the area starts Monday. The work will take place along Scenic Drive South, between 16 Avenue South and 4 Street South. The project is a rolling operation in three broad segments, working northward from 16 Avenue South.

Work in the Fleetwood Bawden area is expected to be completed in June. Work will take place along 7 Street South, 8 Street South, 9 Street South, 10 Street South, 11 Street South, 12A Street South and 12B Street South.

Residents in this area have been notified in advance in writing regarding scheduled interruptions in their household sewer service. Motorists are advised to expect traffic disruptions while work is occurring and are asked to drive with caution, follow detours, and slow down around work crews.

The relining project will allow allow the sewer lines to be repaired in place without having to dig them up, thus preventing even wider disruption or greater damage to surface infrastructure.
