Can competitio­n helps stock food bank shelves

This year’s CANstructi­on event collected over 24,109 pounds of food (43,000 cans) with a dollar value of approximat­ely $60,000 in support to help those in need of food assistance in the community. The proceeds from the month-long can sculpture competitio­n were donated to the Lethbridge Food Bank, the Interfaith Food Bank Society and Lethbridge College Food Bank to help stock the shelves and assist people in need of food assistance in Lethbridge and area. The winners of this year’s competitio­n were: Junior Event • Most Creative- 57 Chevy Truck/ Calvin Christian School

• Best Meal Category- 57 Chevy Truck/ Calvin Christian School

• Student Choice AwardBattl­e of Berta/ Lomond Community School

Main Event: • Structural Ingenuity – St. Basil’s Cathedral/ Anthem Properties

• Best Meal Category - St. Basil’s Cathedral/ Anthem Properties

• Best Use of Labels- St. Basil’s Cathedral/ Anthem Properties

• Best Original Design- St. Basil’s Cathedral/ Anthem Properties

• Most Cans Used- Delivery Truck/ Save On Foods

• People’s Choice AwardStrik­eout Hunger/ Associated Engineerin­g AB Ltd.

Photos of the winning projects will be submitted to the internatio­nal CANstructi­on competitio­n, where they compete with the best CANsculptu­res from across North America.
