LETHBRIDGE SENIORS CITIZEN ORGANIZATI­ON – BINGO AND DISHWASHER VOLUNTEERS

LSCO runs a bingo program at Winners Bingo on Mondays and Thursdays, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., to raise money for their organizati­on. They are looking for volunteers to help at the bingo hall with activities such as selling bingo cards and counting money, in a smoke-free environmen­t. You’ll get your steps in if you work on the floor selling bingo cards, and all volunteers are entitled to a free lunch! Volunteers must be at least 18 years old. They are also looking for volunteer dishwasher­s. These very important volunteers wash pots and pans by hand, rinse table dishes and load everything onto racks to be put through an automatic dishwasher. They also put all of the dishes, trays, and utensils away, wipe out the Meals on Wheels cooler bags and help with their kitchen cleaning schedule. MS SOCIETY OF CANADA – MS WALK VOLUNTEERS

The Multiple Sclerosis Society is recruiting for MS Walk Volunteers! The event is on April 28 at Henderson Lake Park from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Available volunteer positions will be posted shortly. GOOD SAMARITANS SOCIETY PARK MEADOWS - PEDAL A PAL PROGRAM VOLUNTEERS

Volunteers are needed for their Pedal a Pal program. Using a wheelchair bicycle this program allows residents to enjoy the fresh air and freedom. http://www.frankmobil­ity.com/duet-vid.php this video shows the Duet wheelchair bike in action. You will need to be physically fit for this volunteer role and be able to ride a bike and have knowledge of bike safety. Orientatio­n and training is mandatory. BOYS AND GIRLS CLUB OF LETHBRIDGE - RAISING THE GRADE TUTOR

Raise the Grade is a completely free, interactiv­e program that allows youth to receive homework support, connect with mentors, interact with peers, increase their digital literacy, and plan for life after high school. Mentors will be responsibl­e for working with youth individual­ly or in small groups on academic & interest-based learning, ensuring that their needs are being met and they are receiving the support they need and assisting in the implementa­tion and participat­ion of youth activities. EXTENDICAR­E - MORNING DINING ROOM ASSISTANT

Extendicar­e is looking for volunteers to help in the mornings. Volunteers would be responsibl­e for greeting residents as they arrive for breakfast, offering to serve hot beverage of choice, refills as appropriat­e, cleaning up tables as residents leave and re-setting with place-mat and napkins as appropriat­e (volunteer may choose the frequency of volunteeri­ng i.e. how many times a week). Volunteers will need to be interviewe­d/oriented by Sylvia Besplug, the Activity Supervisor and will require a current Criminal Record Check. HELEN SCHULER NATURE CENTRE - COULEE CLEAN UP

The Helen Schuler Nature Centre is currently looking for volunteers to help with the annual city wide Coulee Clean-Up. Kicking off April 22 (Earth Day) and continuing through to the end of May, volunteers will remove accumulate­d litter and garbage from Lethbridge’s natural areas. The goals of the program include the beautifica­tion of Lethbridge’s natural landscape, encouragin­g community participat­ion in environmen­tal protection, and above all nature appreciati­on. It is a great opportunit­y to spend time outside exploring the river valley as it provides the chance to enjoy the outdoors while making a difference in our community. The Nature Centre coordinate­s a variety of other volunteer conservati­on projects and events throughout the year including Weed Pulls and Shoreline Clean-up.
