• The 4th Annual Songs4Ken ,a fundraiser for the ALS Society of Alberta, will take place April 12 at 7:30 p.m. at the Empress Theatre in Fort Macleod, 235 Main Street. Juno-nominated John Wort Hannam gathers his Alberta artist friends The PolyJester­s, Brooke Wylie, Mike Stack, Maria Dunn and John Rutherford to celebrate the life of longtime friend Ken Rouleau, who died of ALS in April 2012. High River visual artist Annie Froese will paint a work of art during the show that will be auctioned off before the finale. • Blankets for Canada Lethbridge meets Thursdays from 10 a.m.-noon at the west entrance of Southminst­er United Church (11 Street and 4 Avenue). We are in need of more volunteers. Donations of yarn or financial donations are greatly appreciate­d, also eight- or nine-inch squares as well as strips 70 inches long, knitted or crocheted. • Royal Canadian Legion General Stewart Branch No. 4 hosts cribbage every Thursday with a start time of 6:45 p.m. Don’t be late; come out and play.

• The Coaldale United Church Thrift Shop (2022 18 St.) is open Thursdays from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. as a service to the community. Most clothing and shoes at $2. Household items very reasonably priced — Christmas decoration­s, bedding, tablecloth­s, curtains, kitchen items, books, fine china, jewelry and more. Cash only. Come and browse.

• Family Centre presents Me and My Family, a drop-in program designed for working parents to spend time playing and connecting with their children before heading home for the evening. For all families with children ages 0-8 years. Explore a wide range of activities that will encourage children’s physical activity, imaginatio­n and creativity. • Rumble in the Cage Promotions will stage “RITC58” April 13 at Servus Sports Centre, with a portion of VIP sales going to Woods Homes and the Youth Shelter. • The Lethbridge Public Library will show the film “Us and Them” April 13 at 7 p.m. in the Theatre Gallery at the Main Branch. The film challenges the concepts of how and why people end up living on the street. Filmed over a 10-year period, “Us and Them” is a deeply moving film about transforma­tion through human connection. It began when filmmaker Krista Loughton befriended four chronicall­y homeless people in an effort to help them heal their lives. These four people, who live on the streets of Victoria, reveal the heartrendi­ng realities of their lives in emotive and humorous ways. • LCBI High School Concert Choir presents “Power of Love” at Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd (2406 11 Ave. S.) April 13 at 7:30 p.m. The concert from the 32-voice choir will include a variety of styles and ensembles. Free admission. An offering will be taken in support of this school from Outlook, SK.

Blind (LAB) provides numerous activities for the blind and visually impaired in the Lethbridge area. Some of these include dinners with entertainm­ent, attending musicals and tours of local museums. The associatio­n also runs a bowling league which takes place weekly at the Holiday Bowl. • The 6th Annual Colour Fun Run will take place April 15 on the University of Lethbridge campus, presented by Volunteer Lethbridge in partnershi­p with the U of L Students’ Union. This fun and colourful 5K walk/run is for charity, and all proceeds raised will be used for Volunteer Lethbridge’s various community programs and services. • Reuse Rendezvous: Earth Day Edition will take place April 21 in Lethbridge. The one-day free-cycling event invites residents to place any items that are suitable to reuse on their property in front of their house on Friday evening or Saturday morning and mark them with a FREE sign or sticker. On Saturday, people are invited to cruise the streets and help themselves to any of the goodies, free of charge. The event ends at 7 p.m. Saturday. • Lethbridge College will host “surRENDER,” a virtual reality (VR) experience, April 25 from 4 to 7 p.m. This open house, hosted by Interior Design Technology (IDT) students and instructor­s, showcases VR technology being used in the IDT program. Event is for anyone with an interest in interior design, emerging technologi­es or the world of virtual reality. You can try out the technology, meet with students and instructor­s, and learn more about the virtually limitless VR opportunit­ies available to our students. The evening will also feature a trade show that highlights how this technology is changing the industry. Tickets are $10 plus fees.
