Political correctness being taken too far

-

It would appear that political correctness has reared its ugly head again with the cancellation of Mother’s Day and Father’s Day crafts in some of the local schools. Why do the majority of the people involved have to suffer the possible uneasiness of a few?

Yes, there are children without mothers and fathers. Has anyone spoken to these children about their feelings? Perhaps they have grandparents or a favourite aunt or uncle they would like to make a craft/card for. The principal on the local TV news seemed to know how everyone felt. Does he really or are these his thoughts?

Christmas has been pretty much eliminated from the school system because it may offend new Canadians that do not celebrate this event. There have been attempts by people in the federal government and provincial government offices to eliminate Christmas celebrations and decorations as it may offend those who do not choose to celebrate this event. This is due to political correctness. Did anyone actually speak to the minority “who might be offended”? By the way, it is Christmas and not Xmas. It has been refreshing the past few years to actually be wished a Merry Christmas in the stores instead of the tired and meaningless happy holidays.

Halloween has also disappeared from many schools; again it would appear from political correctness.

It seems that a few new Canadians are having a problem accepting the culture of their new country. We do not need a few “informed” folks to jump on the political correctness bandwagon and impose the wishes of a few on the majority. I do not see anyone at the borders forcing the few disgruntled folks to stay in Canada. If we went to other countries and tried to eliminate a religious celebration or the dress code of their country, how far do you think we would get?

Is political correctness a problem that needs to be addressed along with everyone feeling they have to apologize to everyone for perceived events that occurred many years ago?

Just wondering.
