• Great Canadian Plains Railway

Society will hold its Annual General Meeting May 31 at 7 p.m. at the Galt Historic Railway Park station north of Stirling. Agenda will include: reading/approval of minutes from the previous AGM; president’s report; secretary’s report; presentati­on of the financial statement; nomination­s and elections for positions of treasure and committee members. • The Galt Museum will present the next segment in its Archives program

May 31 from 7-9 p.m., featuring “Archives 101.” Come and learn about the historical treasures at the Galt Archives. Tour the archival facility (including non-public areas), learn the rules and procedures and how to search our newly upgraded online database. Admission fees apply; free to annual pass holders.

• Cotton Patch Gospel, a musical starring Andrew Legg, will be presented at McKillop United Church with three performanc­es, May 31 (7:30 p.m.) and

June 2 (2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.). Cotton Patch Gospel retells the life of Jesus as if in modern-day rural Georgia, and features the final and perhaps best music of Harry Chapin. Tickets are $20 each, available from the church office (2329 15 Ave. S.) or at the door.

• Blankets for Canada Lethbridge meets Thursdays from 10 a.m.-noon at the west entrance of Southminst­er United Church (11 Street and 4 Avenue). We are in need of more volunteers. Donations of yarn or financial donations are greatly appreciate­d, also eight- or nine-inch squares as well as strips 70 inches long, knitted or crocheted. • Royal Canadian Legion General Stewart Branch No. 4 hosts cribbage

• The Coaldale United Church Thrift Shop (2022 18 St.) is open Thursdays from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. as a service to the community. Most clothing and shoes at $2. Household items very reasonably priced — Christmas decoration­s, bedding, tablecloth­s, curtains, kitchen items, books, fine china, jewelry and more. Cash only. Come and browse.

• Family Centre presents Me and My Family, a drop-in program designed for working parents to spend time playing and connecting with their children before heading home for the evening. For all families with children ages 0-8 years. Explore a wide range of activities that will encourage children’s physical activity, imaginatio­n and creativity. Takes place Thursdays from 5:30-7:30 p.m., until June 28 at Family Centre, Downtown, #225, 200 4 Ave. S. (in Lethbridge Centre).

• A book signing featuring Donna Clewes, the author of “Safe Behind the Little Waterfall: Finding Peace and Freedom Through the Journey of Healing,” will take place June 1 and 2 from 1-5:30 p.m. at Chapters in the Park Place Shopping Centre.

• The Mountain Bluebird Trails Conservati­on Society invites you to its annual Trail Orientatio­n Day June 2 to see an active nest box trail in operation here in Lethbridge. It’s free. • “New Voices of Spring” Concert in Aid of Syrian Refugees will take place

June 2 at 7:30 at St. Augustine’s Church, 411 11 St. S. This second concert in aid of the resettleme­nt of Syrian refugees in Lethbridge will feature young and youngat-heart performers from the church as well as two guest ensembles, the Cantare Children’s Choir from Calgary, under the direction of Catherine Glaser-Climie, and the U of L Conservato­ry Young Artist Percussion Academy under the direction of Joe Porter. Tickets are $20 ($10 for children 10 and younger) available at the door. All proceeds will go to the support of two Syrian refugee families.

• Lethbridge Horseshoe Club will host a Horseshoe Tournament June 2-3 from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. at Henderson Lake park (next to the new pool). Tournament play is open to Alberta Horseshoe Associatio­n members; spectators are welcome. Come and find out more about the club, which plays Thursday evenings at 6 p.m.

• The 9th annual “Carnage in Coaldale” Smash & Splash Demolition Derby and Mud Bog, sponsored by the Kinsmen Club of Coaldale, takes place

June 2-3, 1 km north of the Coaldale Inn on Highway 3 (watch for signs). The Demolition Derby goes June 2 at 1 p.m. $10 per person (12 and under free). Take a ride on the monster truck “Jurassic Attack.” Beer garden with live music from 11 a.m.-9 p.m. Kids’ free draw for two mountain bikes. Mud Bog takes place

• West Wind Gymnastics Club will be visited by Chase and Marshall of “Paw Patrol” June 3. Register now for the club’s annual Mascot Days. This year Marshall and Chase impersonat­ors will play on the gym floor with your children for 55 minutes. Book your time for $20. Try balance beams, foam pit, trampoline­s, spring boards, bars, vault and more. Only 60 tickets are sold each hour. Parents and

• The Lethbridge Gutsy Walk for

Crohn’s and Colitis will take place June 3 at the Kiwanis Picnic Shelter at Henderson Lake Park, 2710 Parkside Drive S. Check-in begins at 10 a.m., walk starts at 11 a.m. The event is a fun-filled and family-friendly day to support the people taking on Crohn’s disease or ulcerative colitis, and a chance to connect with others in our community impacted by inflammato­ry bowel disease. • Lethbridge Plot Hop will take place
