MATCHING PETS WITH PEOPLE

-

This public service feature runs each Saturday in the Lethbridge Herald.

Cher is here in Lethbridge! International singing star and entertainment sensation, for three hours only, today from noon to three p.m., at the downtown Homes Alive! Wait just a minute … this doesn’t seem right. Let’s read the description. Five years old. Well, I know she may’ve had some cosmetic surgery, but … pale orange hair. Hmm… Easygoing, relaxed, considerate; likes to talk gently, not loudly; good relationship with others? Hold on, this can’t be. Ah, I see. This is Cher, the orange tabby mancat! Well, that makes more sense. Yes, Cher is all that and more. Sweettempered, modest, loves cuddling with people. As popular as recording-artist Cher might be, we’re guessing you may want to meet our Cher more. He’s looking for a family to love, be it large or small, or even just one person who wants a wonderful cat. Meet Cher by calling the PAW Society at 403-328-6700 or send an online inquiry at www.pawsociety.com. Better yet, come and meet him today — before he leaves for his gig in Vegas!

Trevor came to Purrfect Endings Rescue as a transfer from another rescue. He was found on a property in very bad shape most likely from being hit by a car. He had a badly infected paw, a fractured leg, injuries to his face and nose as well as a broken canine. Trevor has healed up nicely but he needs his fractured leg x-rayed before he can go up for adoption. Zena, our diabetic cat, needs surgery to close up a nasal fistula and two other cats require dentals. Our account at Green Acres Animal Hospital is the highest it’s ever been and we are desperate for donations to help pay it down. No amount is too small. Ash, a handsome Russian Blue, and Iggy, an adorable orange tabby, are both up for adoption at Petland. Thank you so much to Allan, Jolene and the wonderful staff for their continued support. Call Linda (403-381-9269) or Sam (403-383-0977) of Purrfect Endings Rescue for more information. We are also on Facebook. Please help us continue to help those with no choice and no voice.

Aero is just chillin’ enjoying the lazy days of summer ... he and his buddies are patiently waiting for a home of their own and thinking about all the homeless cats out there that are in need of help. The Last Chance Cat Ranch works hard at finding homes for their resident cats and our Volunteers work hard caring for them in the meantime. One of our volunteers has been having a garage sale this week and we have another one at The Hut from July 5-8. We rely on fundraising and donations to operate as we receive nothing from any level of government. All details about what we do can be found on our Facebook page at www.facebook.com/ lastchancecatranch or our website at www.thelastchancecatranch.com. We work hard to help as many homeless cats as we are able due to foster homes and the support of our community. Thank you to everyone who donated to our bottle drive last weekend.

Sassy is a cute little grey and white girl with lots of energy! She’s sweet and playful, and she likes to talk. Sassy came to the Humane Society this past winter and is now ready for a forever home of her own. She’s very affectionate and loving, and likes people a lot. Sassy is very playful and lots of fun. She likes toys and likes to run and climb. She has had all of her shots and is spayed, so she’s ready for adoption. Sassy’s adoption fee is $260. If you are interested in meeting Sassy, you can visit her at the Lethbridge Humane Society (2920 16 Ave. N. or call 403-3208991). To view other Haven pets, go to www.lethbridgehumanesociety.com and click on the Available Pets link. Also check out the Lethbridge and District Humane Society on Facebook.

Tracker is a mellow eightyear-old. Tracker gets along people of all ages, other dogs and is a laidback guy. He’s quiet in the house, can be trusted to be loose and is housetrained. He’s not great off leash, he is interested in little critters like ground squirrels and bunnies. We couldn’t let him off leash to swim in the lake but he is a big fan of water. He will play with other dogs, but he’s pretty lazy. We also have not discovered a toy he’ll play with but we also haven’t found a treat he’ll refuse. He is content to lay on the floor or his bed. He doesn’t jump up on people and is very patient with kids. He does enjoy chasing cats so would be best in a home without them. Visit www.windycityrescue.com for more information or call 403-359-3139. Adoption fees apply and application forms must be filled out.
