hard to just be as humble as we can and just go play the game hard and let the chips fall as they may.”
However the chips fall, they’ll fall in the comforts of Canola Harvest Field and Lakeview Field, the South West stomping grounds.
Canola Harvest Field is as nice a Little League Park as anywhere in the country,” said McTavish. “We have a lot of parents who have spent a ton of time and effort and energy for the last two weeks building up to this and trying to make the park look as great as it does.”
A member of last year’s South West team that went to Nationals, 13-year-old Lyle Steadman returns for another go-round and ideally another trip to the national stage.
“It's pretty fun,” he said.
With one Nationals already under his belt, Steadman comes into this year’s South West Major AAA Divisional Tournament as veteran player who got lots of playing time at last year’s Nationals.
“I just enjoyed it. I got to play a lot last year, so it was lots of fun.”
With Saturday’s win in the books, all the teams onhand this week went from players to spectators as they headed over to Spitz Stadium Saturday night to not only watch the Lethbridge Bulls play the Fort McMurray Giants, but also get introduced pre-game.
“We’re looking forward to tonight,” said McTavish. “We get to go to the Bulls game with all the players, so it’ll be fun for the guys to maybe meet some of the players from the other teams and hopefully learn something from the Bulls.”
