Awards recognize those who help build community

The Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) Southern Alberta Chapter has announced that nominations are being accepted for the 2018 National Philanthropy Day Inspiring Philanthropy Awards.

Honourees will be recognized at the National Philanthropy Day Luncheon on Nov. 15.

In a news release, the AFP says it recognizes that it takes many caring leaders to build a community. The Inspiring Philanthropy Awards provide the opportunity to recognize and celebrate philanthropic leaders who give freely of their time, talent and treasure to make a difference in the lives of those around them.

The Inspiring Philanthropy Awards are a vital component of National Philanthropy Week celebrations within the community. The awards provide an opportunity for non-profit organizations, allied-professionals, volunteers, service organizations and others in the community to acknowledge and highlight their philanthropic partners.

Awards will be presented in the following categories:

• Indigenous • Corporate Philanthropist • Individual Philanthropist, Including Family • Philanthropic Group • Small Business Philanthropist • Youth Nomination forms can be downloaded by visiting https://community.afpnet.org

/afpabsouthernchapter/. The deadline submit applications is Wednesday, Aug. 15.

National Philanthropy Day is an initiative of AFP and is a celebration of philanthropy — giving, volunteering and charitable engagement — that highlights the accomplishments, large and small, made by philanthropy and all those involved in the philanthropic process. The day is celebrated annually in the second week of November.
