Help put smiles on children’s faces

- LETHBRIDGE HERALD

You can help Tim Hortons put a smile on a child’s face.

Tim Hortons’ annual Smile Cookie campaign is underway and continues until Sept. 23, supporting local charities and organizations in communities across the country.

During the campaign, Tim Hortons guests can purchase the restaurant’s signature chocolate chunk cookies, decorated with blue eyes and a cheerful pink smile, for $1 (plus tax) at participating restaurants. The full $1 from each Smile Cookie will be donated by Tim Hortons restaurant owners to a local charity, hospital or community program that they have selected.

Last year, the campaign raised over $6.5 million. Examples of 2018 charities the Smile Cookie fundraiser will support include The Snowsuit Fund in Ottawa, Children’s Wish in Montreal and the B.C. Children’s Hospital Foundation in Vancouver.

“The magic of the Smile Cookie is that there is a real smile of a Canadian individual benefitting behind each and every one,” Alex Macedo, president, Tim Hortons, said in a news release. “We are incredibly proud and deeply appreciative of what our restaurant owners and guests accomplish together each year with this program, raising millions of dollars to help those who need it most through donations to charities from coast-to-coast.”

Sharing smiles across Canada since 1996, the fundraiser first launched to raise funds for the Hamilton Children’s Hospital in Ontario. The arrival of the blue eyes and pink frosted smile has grown to become a beloved annual fundraising initiative supporting over 500 charities and organizations. For the first time, the Smile Cookie campaign will now be celebrated globally with many Tim Hortons locations participating around the world including the U.S., Mexico, the UK, Philippines and the UAE.
