• Galt Museum’s Archives Program continues Oct. 4 from 7-9 p.m., featuring “Ship of Dreams, Ship of Nightmares.” The ship Empress of Ireland and southern Alberta shared a storied past long before the maritime disaster became known as “Canada’s Titanic.” Join Bobbie Fox to learn about the history and challenges of framing it as an exhibit. This group will be facilitated by an Early Childhood Educator and a Parent Educator, so one-on-one support is not available to children. meeting Oct. 9 at 6:30 p.m., featuring a nomination meeting. After the meeting there will be a special luncheon for all to enjoy. All members are urged to attend. • The “Famous Five” Persons Day Breakfast will be held Oct. 10 from 7-9 a.m. at the Sandman Signature Lethbridge Lodge (Anton’s), in recognition of Persons Day. • American folk artist Sam Baker will perform at the Empress Theatre in Fort Macleod Oct. 10 at 7:30 p.m. Born in West Texas, Baker is know for his signature haunting, melodic style. His life was changed dramatically in 1986 when, while travelling by train in Peru, a bomb exploded near him, killing his three seatmates.
