U16 Rattlers win tourney gold

The Lethbridge U16 Rattlers Ringette team brought home a gold medal last weekend.

The Rattlers headed to Medicine Hat for the Ed Horvath Tournament and came away with first place following a 7-1 win over the Bowview Menace in the final.

Lethbridge started the weekend with a 10-4 win over the Bowview Charge as Mikayla Miller, Ruthie Bohnec, Raegan Nicol and Emily Miller led the way with two goals each. Brynn Stevenson and Micah Strom each added one.

Teyha Trekofski earned the win in goal.

The Rattlers improved to 2-0 following a 9-3 victory over the Menace.

Stevenson, Bohnec and Mikayla Miller each scored twice, while Emily Miller, Madi Andres and Brooke Robinson added singles. Trey Blair made 23 saves. On Saturday, the Rattlers downed the Medicine Hat Aftershock 11-1 as Emily Miller netted the hat trick and Bohnec added two.

Mikayla Miller, Emma Zgurski, Nicol, Strom, Stevenson and Lisa Beswitheri­ck scored the other Lethbridge goals. Trekofski faced 23 shots. The Rattlers earned a berth in the gold medal game thanks to a 7-1 win in the rematch with the Aftershock.

Brynn Stevenson and Emily Miller scored twice and Brooke Robinson, Bohnec, and Tegan Tailfeathe­rs each scored once. Blair made 26 saves. In the gold medal game, Lethbridge enjoyed a quick start en route to the 7-1 win.

Emily Miller and Bohnec each scored twice and Stevenson, Nicol and Zgurski added one each.

Trekofski faced 26 shots.
