Mi­nor Mid­get Hur­ri­canes look for fifth straight win

The Leth­bridge mi­nor mid­get AAA Hur­ri­canes have a win­ning streak they’ll look to keep go­ing at home this week­end.

Look­ing for their fifth straight win, the Hur­ri­canes host the AC Avalanche in Al­berta Mi­nor Mid­get Hockey League play Sun­day at 2:45 p.m. at Ni­cholas Sheran Arena.

Hav­ing started De­cem­ber with 6-3 and 4-2 wins over the Oko­toks Oil­ers and the Cal­gary CNHA Blaz­ers, re­spec­tively, the Hur­ri­canes are 13-21, good for first in the South Divi­sion and one point be­hind the St. Al­bert Fly­ers (13-2-2) and the Le­duc Tech­ma­tion Oil Kings (13-3-2) for first over­all in the league.

Nolan Price lead the Canes with 18 goals and 32 points in 16 games and is tied for third in league scor­ing, two points be­hind lead­ing scorer Ethan Sun­dar of St Al­bert.

Leth­bridge’s Colby Gar­ner is in sev­enth in league scor­ing with 13 goals and 29 points in 16 games.

Hur­ri­canes goal­tender Jesse Schin­del has a 5-0-1 record and his 2.73 goals-against av­er­age is tied for ninth in the league

Fel­low goal­tender Marek An­dres is 8-2-0 with a 3.08 goals-against av­er­age.

The Avalanche are 5-12-0 and 12th in the South Divi­sion.

The Hur­ri­canes have one more home game in De­cem­ber when they play the Cal­gary CBHA Blackhawks Dec. 16 at noon at Ni­cholas Sheran Arena.
