• The Banff Mountain Film Festival
World Tour, in partnership with the Lethbridge Public Library, will visit Lethbridge Jan. 10-12 at the Yates Memorial Centre, featuring films highlighting mountain culture. Highlights of the festival include “Surviving the Outback,” “How to Run 100 Miles,” “Divided” and “Fast Horse.” Tickets are available at the Lethbridge Public Library Main Branch only. • University of Lethbridge will present the Art NOW Series, featuring Skawennati, Jan. 11, noon -12:50 p.m., Recital Hall, W570. Skawennati makes art that addresses history, the future and change from an Indigenous perspective. She is best known for her machinimas, which are movies made in virtual environments. Among her groundbreaking new media projects are the online gallery/chat space and mixed-reality event called CyberPowWow and the machinimas TimeTraveller.
• Pizza & Pasta Night will take place Jan. 11 at the Italian Canadian Club, 1511 St. Edward Blvd. N., with meal served from 5-7 p.m. $18 dine in or take out. Menu includes: Pizza bianco with prosciutto; Italian sausage pizza; deluxe pizza; vegetarian pizza; Carbonara mac and cheese; braised chicken cacciatore rigatoni; Caesar salad with roasted garlic lemon anchovy caper dressing; house salad with honey balsamic vinaigrette; streusel apple pizza pie with salted caramel sauce. • Growing Abilities is a parent support and play group for children with differing abilities. It is open to parents/caregivers and their children with disabilities, as well as siblings and support staff. There will be planned activities based on children’s developmental needs, abilities and interests. There will also be open-ended activities for siblings and space for parents to connect. This group will be facilitated by an Early Childhood Educator and a Parent Educator, so one-on-one support is not available to children. Give it a try at Family Centre Downtown on Fridays from 2-3:30 p.m. at #225, 200 4 Ave. S. The program is free but people are asked to register by calling 403-320-4232.
• TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly), a non-profit organization which provides support to people wanting to lose weight, meets regularly in Lethbridge and area. Details: Eileen Schmidt, 403-405-2410, or visit the website, www.tops.org.
• Celebrate Recovery — a Christcentred recovery program for any hurt, hang-up and habit, meets Friday nights at Park Meadows Baptist Church, 2011 15 Ave. N. 6 p.m. - supper ($3); 7 p.m. large group; 8 p.m. - open share small groups; 9 p.m. - Solid Rock Cafe. • Nord-Bridge Bingo welcomes the public (18 and over) for a cash bingo with no surcharges Fridays at 1 p.m. (except holidays) at 1904 13 Ave. N. A regular book is $5, extra games $1 each. • The Senior Club in Raymond is looking for new members. Cost to join is $17. The centre is open six days a week from 2:30-4:30 p.m.; there is a game room with two pool tables, darts and cards. Potluck is held the second Monday (cost $3 if you bring food or are a member). Rook is played every Friday at 3 p.m. A social supper is held the fourth Thursday (cost $8). Music provided at meals. • University of Lethbridge will present U of L Brass Day Jan. 12, 10 a.m.-8 p.m., at W470, W480 and W570. Brass musicians from high schools, university and the community will take participate in a day filled with rehearsals, workshops, masterclasses and performances. In addition to members of the U of L Brass faculty, Laurie Matiation (Calgary Philharmonic) and Natalie DeJong (Mount Royal Conservatory) will join members of the U of L Audio Engineering Society for a day of learning, playing music and meeting other musicians. The day culminates with a 7 p.m. performance in the Recital Hall.
• Galt Museum’s Saturdays at 1:00 hands-on history program for children to attend with adults continues Jan. 12 from 1-2 p.m., featuring “Paint Stick Buddies.” Create a new friend to play with and find out about some of the old-fashioned dolls in the Galt Collections. Registration not required. Museum admission applies (free to annual pass holders).
• Six O’clock in the Chapel will take place Jan. 12 at 6 p.m. at Southminster United Church, offering a brief, reflective vesper service with beautiful music in the small and inviting Buchanan Chapel. Worship leader is Ruth Preston Schilk. Everyone is welcome.
• Lethbridge Public Library presents the Creative Native Indigenous Art Club, facilitated by Mark Brave Rock, Jan. 12
and 26, 10:30 a.m. at the Main Branch, Piitoyiss (Eagle’s Nest). Open to all ages, this art club allows you the opportunity to take the time to create, collaborate and develop your own style.
• Lethbridge Senior Citizens Organization will offer Zumba Toning classes Saturdays, Jan. 12-March 30 from 11-11:45 a.m. at the LSCO, 500 11 St. S. Zumba Toning is a cardio workout aimed at sculpting and toning specific muscles groups, working the thighs, abs, and arms by using toning sticks (filled with sand typically between one and three pounds). • West Wind Gymnastics Club offers drop-in fun on Saturdays from 2-4 p.m. It’s a great opportunity to practise your gymnastic skills in a friendly, supervised environment. Age 5 and under $6 and must be accompanied by an adult; 6 and older $12.

• Tai Chi Easy and Medical Qi Gong classes take place Saturdays, Jan. 12– March 30, 10-11:15 a.m., and Wednesdays, Jan. 9-March 27, 7-8:15 p.m. at the Canadian Yoga Institute, 1238 3 Ave. S. A simple healing practice of gentle rhythmical movements that improves posture, balance, breath and quiets the mind. No prior experience necessary. Trigeminal neuralgia is a neuropathic disorder characterized by episodes of intense pain in the face, originating from the trigeminal nerve. • Transitions, a 15-week peer support program to help those who are separated or divorced, will take place Tuesday evenings beginning Jan. 15 from 7-9 p.m. at Assumption Church in the Upper Meeting Room (2405 12 Ave. S.). Participants will meet once a week to reflect upon and discuss topics such as self-esteem, grief, stress, anger, guilt, blame, loneliness, forgiveness, blended families and more.
