Midget Canes look to snap two-game losing streak

After a 4-2 road loss, the Lethbridge midget AAA Hurricanes look to snap a mini losing skid this weekend.

The Canes were doubled 42 by the Calgary Northstars in Alberta Midget Hockey League play Wednesday night in Calgary.

The Hurricanes will remain on the road this weekend and try to snap a two-game losing streak that has them at 19-5-0 and second overall in the league as they travel to Airdrie tonight to take on the CFR Bisons at 7 p.m.

The Canes are in Calgary Sunday to take on the Calgary Royals at 2:30 p.m.

On Wednesday in Calgary, Michael Horon returned to the lineup after his call-up from the Seattle Thunderbir­ds of the Western Hockey League and scored Lethbridge’s first goal.

Griffen Fraser added the other Hurricanes marker and goaltender Cole Tisdale made 23 saves.

In Alberta Major Bantam Hockey League play, the Lethbridge Val Matteotti bantam AAA Golden Hawks have one home game scheduled after a 1-1 performanc­e last weekend that puts the at 6-10-5.

The Golden Hawks welcome the Medicine Hat SEAC Tigers to Nicholas Sheran Arena Sunday at noon.

The Lethbridge Headwater minor Midget AA Hurricanes return to action this weekend as well for their first games of 2019 in Alberta Minor Midget Hockey League action with a pair at home.

The first goes today at 3 p.m. as the Hurricanes host the Medicine Hat SEAC Tigers at Nicholas Sheran Arena.

The Canes are back at Nicholas Sheran Arena Sunday at 2:45 when the Calgary CNHA Canucks visit.

Lethbridge heads into the second half of the season at 16-2-1, second in the South Division, one point behind the Red Deer North Star Chiefs.
