LETHBRIDGE PUBLIC LIBRARY – CHILD MINDER, READ ON PROGRAM VOLUNTEERS

LPL’s program helps adults improve their literacy skills, but sometimes finding child care while on a limited income is very difficult, so parents have to drop out. LPL needs you on

their team to mind child(ren) while their parents are

learning. Child minding takes place at the downtown or The Crossings branch. Children will be between 1-11 years of age, and volunteers would have a maximum of five children. The library has a vast collection of books and toys, for you to use while child minding. You are not required to do programmin­g with the children, you are simply minding them while their parents are learning. GOOD SAMARITAN SOCIETY – WEST HIGHLANDS – CRAFT VOLUNTEER Good Samaritan West Highlands is looking for volunteers to assist residents with crafts. Volunteers will porter residents to and from the program and will assist in serving

refreshmen­ts. Volunteers will also help with set up and cleaning up after the program. Volunteers must have patience with the various abilities of participan­ts in the program. For more details please contact Greg Broadbent at 403-380-6275 ext. 52226.

CANADIAN RED CROSS SOCIETY - VARIOUS VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNIT­IES

The Canadian Red Cross Society, a non-profit, humanitari­an organizati­on dedicated to helping Canadians, as well as the most vulnerable throughout the world, is seeking volunteers for the health equipment loan program, volunteer resource services, emergency response team, and personal disaster assistance team. LETHBRIDGE FAMILY SERVICES - COMMUNITY CONNECTION VOLUNTEER PROGRAM The Community Connection Volunteer Program (CCVP) needs you! This program connects newcomers with the community

through networking and other activities that support crosscultu­ral awareness and informatio­n language learning. By matching singles or families with volunteers, newcomers receive welcome support during initial stages of adjustment to their new life in Canada. Work on your own schedule and do the activities you enjoy and bring your newcomer friend or family with you. Orientatio­n, training and support is provided. LETHBRIDGE YOUTH FOUNDATION/5TH ON 5TH – PHOTOGRAPH­ER AND STAR WARS COSPLAY MODEL

The Lethbridge Youth Foundation/5th on 5th is hosting the 22nd Annual ‘Investing in Youth’ Fundraisin­g Campaign and volunteers are required on Feb. 2 and 3 from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. to help with the marketing campaign. Volunteer positions include a

VOLUNTEER LETHBRIDGE – LEADERS OF TOMORROW VOLUNTEERS

The Leaders of Tomorrow Gala is an inspiring and empowering event where Volunteer Lethbridge recognizes and celebrates youth in the community who have made a positive impact through volunteeri­sm. They are asking for your support to help the evening run smoothly. Tasks include welcoming attendees upon

arrival, handing out the evening’s programs, helping organize the kids alphabetic­ally before they enter the stage, assisting with set-up & take-down of the event, photograph the youth with their certificat­es, assist with the registrati­on table, direct the kids to the stage and from the stage to the photo area. Other task may be assigned as needed. CHINOOK REGIONAL HOSPITAL FOUNDATION – CASINO VOLUNTEERS

Chinook Regional Hospital Foundation is hosting a Casino on Monday, March 18 and Tuesday, March 19 and are looking for

volunteers to help in various roles. No previous experience working a casino is necessary. Must be at least 18 years of age. Training and support will be provided by an experience­d, licensed casino advisor in both the cage and the count room who will train you, support your work, and provide guidance. Shift times are 1 p.m.– 8 p.m. and 8 p.m.–4 a.m. Volunteers are able to sign up for one or both days. Interested volunteers can contact Shonna at 403388-6001.
